Let's be honest when it comes to African-American NFL quarterbacks, good ones are as slim-pickens as white Running Backs are.

In other words, there's only a handful worthy of mention & they should never be uttered in the same breath as so many great Caucasian QB's. (Same thing as white RB'S vs great black RB'S)

So when it comes to Cam Newton, he only has to be better than guys like Steve McNair, Warren Moon, and Donovan McNabb.

Is Cam Newton on pace to surpass those guys??

Russell Wilson is an NFL player currently with the Seattle Seahawks. He has been named to two Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl in 2014.*

Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft after spending his final collegiate season at Wisconsin. He played for three seasons at North Carolina State before transferring before the 2011 season.

Wilson was named the starter for the Seahawks before the 2012 season and led the team to aplayoff berth. He tied an NFL record for the most passing touchdowns in a season by a rookie. The Seahawks lost to the Falcons in the divisional playoff.

He set another record by winning 24 games as as starter in his first two seasons. In early 2014, the Seahawks capped off Wilson's second season by blowing out the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII for the franchise’s first championship.

Wilson had another solid year in the 2014-2015 season, passing for 3,475 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 849 yards and six scores. He became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 300-plus yards and rush for 100-plus yards in a single game during a Week 7 loss to the St. Louis Rams.

Aaron Brooks?? He was absolutely awful. And good black quarterbacks are an extreme rarity. And their careers are usually short lived. Most are done by 30.

I made it crystal clear in the very first post so please dont twist it.

Yes there are good black QB'S, but how many great ones?

Maybe none if you compare them to the best white QB'S.

Are any on the very small list of best black qb's truly any better than an Andy Dalton, much less Tom Brady, Manning, Montana, and so on?

Really 2 different leagues talent-wise.

Just like there have been some good white RB's but you would never put them in Barry Sanders' category.

Nothing racist here, just facts.

As for Warren Moon, I've always thought he was the best of the group too & you will find him atop any such list.

But just curious if you guys ever compared his stats to others, such as McNabb for example.

Donovan's numbers look much better career-wise.

Not saying that tells the tale but just throwing it out there...

What about all the pathetic white qbs that shouldn't be starting?

I guarantee there are 10-15 easy that are pure trash

There are very few good QB's in general

I think the tide has already turned. More and More black kids are starting at QB and using their athleticism, it wont be long before race at QB isn't a topic. We are just a couple years away from it my opinion.

Cam is the most physically gifted NFL QB -- ever. White or Black. I dont think many casual fans realize how huge he really is, and the fact he's fast and huge and can throw, its mind blowing. Will he ever bring it all together, I really don't know.

I imagine there will be a black QB that ends up with better career numbers and more rings, just because I think that would be a super bold statement to say one individual will be the best ever when there is such an gigantic shift happening now.

This...Cam lacks leadership, nice guy when things are going well, pouty little bitch when things get tough. They will hit a bump in the road soon, and the true Cam will come out of hibernation, doesnt handle criticism well. Raw talent for sure, but not a leader.

I'm not even sure what point you are making. There are 32 of these jobs available in the world. Not every team will have a Rogers or Brady but if Tyrone the homeboy was better than Ryan Fitzpatrick he would be playing. Personally, I would always roll the dice with a white qb over a black qb. Way more upside

And I love how since Russel Wilson is considered successful that he is black. The truth is he is mixed 50/50 but since perception is he is successful, he is considered black. LOL

I love Cam, but he's still very young and his story is only beginning. I like the way he plays the game, I like is smile and his dance, I hope small minded people don't tear him down.

I think he can be great

Winston and Newton were 2 of the best qb prospectives to come out in the last 10 years. Luck was the only one rated higher.

And much higher at that. Unlike most black qb's, I think Cam can be decent at best but as soon as things start to go south, he will fold up.

Hopefully, by the time he retires, people will realize that "African American" is not a description of a race. It merely defines citizenship and where your ancestors are from.
