When Federer was winning the most he would go 4-5 weeks without hitting a tennis ball...

... at the end of the year.

It's amazing how much genetics and raw talent rule the professional sports. Deion Sanders said he could just roll out of bed and play corner against some of the fastest people in the world.

Really, a lot of these guys can get by without training at all. That sounds ridiculous but I know there've been guys in the NBA that are just 7 foot and they won't listen to one word a coach or trainer says and they'll just show up for the uniform and the check.

that is pretty much true for most top guys in most sports.

They just have it and the rest of us dont. And there is nothing we can do to reach their level

I guarantee you there are a lot of white kids in Indiana and Kentucky who practiced more and maybe even harder than Jordan did, yet they never even made it to the pros

Like how in snooker both Hendry and O'Sullivan won their first majors before turning 18. Heck, there are a ton of snooker and pool players who put in more practice hours than those two were alive at that point

Absolute truth. Just genes at the end of the day. Win the lottery and you got it made.

Its not the genetics or the training. Yes they help but the most important thing is your mind and mentality. You can train all you want but if your mind is not set you won't get anywhere. This is the difference between the top players and the other players and wanna be players.

Tennis is a good example when it comes to this because it is an individual sport. Most tennis players outside the top 10 don't have the mind/mentality up there to compete with the top players. There are so many good tennis players with raw talent but they suck because of their mind set....this is where a nice wise coach comes in handy. Many young tennis is lost without seeing the potential because their minds are elsewhere. I am pretty sure if you look in the tour you can easily spot these lost players with so much talent.

Even if Federer beat Wawrinka, in the final his can wait Nadal, and it's even more sad for him.
