No matter how much a female follows a male sport, she will NEVER come close to remotely comprehending it fully.

The physical difference than a woman's sport & the competitive fire that runs through virtually every man's DNA is something a woman can never understand.

Males & females are different in the way they think, act & perceive things. The entire world knows this. End of story...

The NBA has already done this.

What are her responsibilities?

The Niners announced the eight members of the 2017 Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellowship, a group that includes Katie Sowers, the first female to have a coaching role in franchise history. When the team began practice on Tuesday afternoon, Sowers was working alongside receivers coach Mike LaFleur, a role she will continue through at least the end of training camp.
Sowers is no stranger to working on a staff with LaFleur or Niners coach Kyle Shanahan. She spent last preseason in a similar role with the Atlanta Falcons, where Shanahan was the offensive coordinator. When she was done with that, she worked as a scouting intern for the better part of the past year.
So when Shanahan began vetting applicants for this year's intern program and Sowers called to express interest, he jumped at the chance to bring her to the Bay Area.
"She came in and worked with the receivers and did as good of a job as anyone I've had in the internship," Shanahan said. "She worked with [Falcons receivers coach] Raheem [Morris] and Mike LaFleur last year in Atlanta. We loved having her around. She was eager to learn it, she has played professional football in a women's league in the United States for a while and she's passionate about it. Us spending a whole training camp with her, she did a great job and she ended up helping out in Atlanta in personnel throughout the year. She just hit me up a few months ago and said her internship was up over there and asked if we would want to have her here. There was no doubt. She does a good job and we're excited to have her.”
Previously, Sowers played soccer, basketball and ran track at Goshen (Indiana) College and got a master's degree from Central Missouri State.
Many of the other Niners coaching interns come with NFL playing experience. Corey Ivy, Nick Ferguson, Jerrod Johnson and Rodrique Wright all spent at least some time in the NFL. Donald White, Rony Sieparda and Alonzo Carter round out the group.

Nothing sexist about speaking the truth fellas.

There is not one single player who will take her serious.

Why?

Because there is not one single thing this woman can teach these elite athletes...

And why couldn't a women teach an elite athlete anything?

not trying to sound sexist, but it is a Man's Sport

ok, that sounds sexist

Hmmm, maybe if it sounds sexist then it is sexist? Plenty of jobs "weren't for women" in the past and now they are thriving in them.

You don't think a women can understand the x's and o's of football? I'm pretty sure a women can gameplan similar to a man or help with techniques for receivers, etc. etc.

Is this female infiltration? It is a woman being hired as a coach. There are plenty of men who are coaches and there are even men who coach in all female leagues. I don't get why this is getting you worked up

So you take a Coach ( male ) that has been in Football all his life, and want to compare a Women Coach the same way ??
Coaching Football is more than just X's and O's

anyway I believe that because Men have a Head start in the sport, a Women is not Equal.

That seems reasonable, but plenty of great coaches couldn't play a lick and plenty of great players can't coach. There is no reason a female couldn't understand the intricacies of the game and have an ability to reach players. Many of these players are freakish athletes that have little understanding of the game and/or aren't very bright, so they need to be coached up. They will react to the coaches who reach them and help them progress, if they can be reached.

I don't see much difference in a young male coach, who didn't play at a high level, trying to break in versus a young female trying to break in. They will probably both be disregarded by the players at first, until proven otherwise. If they deliver positive results and can reach the players they will progress, if they can't, they won't.
