Better question was this a worse call or the MNF call in Seattle?
Rediculous. I really cant blame the braves fans, they go through a 162 game season and have there season decided on a bogus infield fly rule call.
Yeah. Everyone gets all upset and mad at the fans throwing stuff. What do you expect them to do?? Go out on the field and give him hugs? It's frustrating so they let off some steam. Make a dumbass call like that your gonna piss people off.
Exactly. Frustration has been boiling all game for them. Errors, blown lead, interference call on Simmons, now this. They're upset and making it known. How long can fans put up with these blown calls before they show their displeasure? It's ridiculous how these refs/umps are having such a big influence on games these days (and yes I'm on the Braves but bad calls upset me no matter what).Yeah. As for what call was worse, this or the Pack-Seahawks one, I'd say this for sure... A loss in week 3 can be overcome, this call will end a teams season. Implications bigger here.

what happens with the protest? can the game actually be replayed or continue from bottom 8th with bases loaded and 1 out? Not sure how this works at all.
Interesting. Thanks... I mean it's pretty clear the call was botched. National baseball writers, well respected journalists, even players from other teams were all over twitter criticizing the call. It's just a matter of whether or not Torre/Selig think the call changed the outcome of the game and I don't see how it didn't. McCann walked the next at bat which would have produced a run and kept the bases loaded with only one away. That would be a two run game at that point and bases loaded. I don't see Gonzalez winning the protest, but the logic is there, I wouldn't be shocked let's put it that way.The only time I can remember a protest being upheld was the George Brett pine tar game in 1983. In that incident they restarted the game from the point of the home run being counted and the Royals leading 5-4.
Given that precedent, the bases would be loaded with 1 out.
Just got home from that clusterfuck. I fully expected something like this to happen to the Braves. Just saw MLB press conference, what a crock. You can't say Atlanta fans don't care anymore. The place was fucking nuts. Play 162 games for that? I would ask the umpire why even make that call in that situation. That's the problem with sports, these officials like to interject themselves in the game.
