From the north to the south, Mayport (Naval Station), Hannah Park (city park, right on the ocean), Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach. All technically part of Jacksonville. AB, NB, and Jax Beach all have their own city council, PD, etc....but still pay taxes to Duval County. I always tell people that Jacksonville is a great city...but avoid the inner city and westside (lots of trash and crime), but the beaches are great. Ponte Vedra is actually in the other county (St. Johns), it's home to the PGA Tour Headquarters and the Players Championship (where Tiger Woods gave his "I'm sorry for cheating on my wife" speech).

Molly Hatchet is another great southern rock band from Jacksonville. Shinedown is a Jax band too. The Allman Brothers, Blackfoot, & 38 Special have Jacksonville roots also. Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers) is from Jax. Lots of good southern rock.

Would have been Neptune Beach to start then with a relocation to Atlantic Beach, cuz there was one Housebound Cat who had the serious Skynyrd Bootlegs + folks that said "you ain't heard nothing yet" so the party moved over there then, eventually, clear memory that I was at one beach, didn't seem to have traveled that far but wound up at a whole different beach, kinda wondering what happened to the first beach :):) definitely some folks that know how to party and love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Running around them 2 Beaches there.

Like Molly Hatchet as well, also like and respect Shinedown cuz they have among the Deepest & Most Meaningful lyrics any band has brought....

ever.

Whoever the main Lyricist for Shinedown is, guy is a Genius.

KISS is a great answer. Among the greatest concerts I saw for "Atmosphere".

My own answer would be AEROSMITH. Before they released the Pop Music.

Late 1970's AEROSMITH.

Would like to have seen DEEP PURPLE as well, certain of their lineups....with various members.
Saw the Dude Looks like a
lady in Lakeland, Fla in the 80's.Was great.
I can't remember whoopened for them.

A guy I grew up with - Brad Stewart - was the bass player in the original Shinedown lineup (not a great friend, lived in the same neighborhood and was better friends w/ his older brother Mark, who was on the Jacksonville Fire Department w/ me....and just passed away a year or so ago). Apparently the lead singer is an asshole and Brad was fired from the band, then another member was let go (I guess by the record label). So only 2 of the 4 original members are left. I think Brad is in Fuel (or ReFueled) now.

RUN DMC put on some hella good shows back in the late 80's

I graduated HS in 1988. Run DMC played at our Grad Night (at Disney World). It was when the "Walk this Way" song was out (and "Who's House", or whatever the name of that song was). Good times!

The Dead. Jerry died when I was 14, about 2 years before I got into the jam band scene and started following Phish around. Good times, the Dead would have been even better.
