I don't think you'll find those odds, but I would put it at something like -150. A smart bookie would put it at like +200 because people will bet the other way, but I think that's where the odds should be.

No way. -150 is ridiculous. +200 is probably not enough either. I'd give them about a 30% chance to make the playoffs. About +230/+240 is fair.

Who's going to pass them? The only team with a realistic chance is the Yankees and I think the Rays have a much better team.

Almost half way through the season and the Rays are up 3.5 games on the Yankees. I'd say they make the playoffs about 60% of the time given this situation.

It's not like they're a bad team that just got hot at the start of the season like the D-Backs. This team has incredible talent. Honestly, if they can keep this core together and with kids like Price in the minors, this team will win at least 3 World Series' in the next decade.

That +750 is to win the AL Pennant.

"Making the playoffs" only requires them to be in the AL Final Four

I'd say that right now +300 would be about right.

IN FACT, if forum freak NES ADVANTAGE or any other severely trusted forum member wants to give me +300, I would commit to a $100 Lay on my end.

I'm paying off an outstanding $180 right now to another forum friend, but would be in plenty o' good shape to honestly respond to a late September Grading.

(gotta notion I might be snagging two bills from TIMETOPAY for the TB Rays Total Wins wager we made).

There is a road trip in September for the Rays where they play the Sox and Yanks for 6 games straight. If they keep this firepower up, which i doubt, they might hold in those 2 series. They need to start winning on the road to prove they are the real deal. Royals for 2009.

4 games under .500 isn't bad at all on the road. Boston is four games under .500 on the road too and I think we all can agree they are the real deal.

The Yanks are the only AL East team with a better road record and they aren't nearly as dominant at home.

I live in Tampa half the year and don't think they will make the playoffs. Pitching is what worries me. They got Kazzy, I give them that. Otherwise they got Sonnestine who has been winning with smoke and mirrors this year. High ERA, high hits per inning, just seems to get a lot of run support. He will get eaten up before the year is out. The rest of the starting pitching is around .500 or so, some a tad above, some a tad below. Shields is quality, nobody else to speak of. If Kazmir for example were to get hurt it's all over. Even healthy I don't think they got either the firepower or pitching to make the playoffs.

Hope I'm wrong but we finish 3rd in the division.
