What's the dumbest thing YOU have personally done in a sporting event?

I'm still ashamed at this one years later...

Little league baseball. Playing for the right to advance in the tournament. Going against a pitcher who had a mustache that threw MUCH faster than anyone in little league. I still think the guy was like 35 or so but whatever, his birth certificate passed league inspection.

He pitched me inside and I jumped the hell out of the way. I didn't want to get hit by that fastball. So the coaches call me over real quick and tell me to get hit if I have to. Dad was the coach so I listened and planned on just getting hit because I wasn't going to be able to actually do anything with the bat against this particular guy.

Next pitch is right down the middle but all I'm thinking about is getting hit and getting on base so I reach my hand out into the middle of the plate and almost catch the ball.

Game got stopped and the umps had no clue what to do with me. Meanwhile my entire bench is busting up laughing and I'm just sitting out there in front of everyone that came to watch the game looking like a moron for trying to catch a perfect pitch down the middle.

Anyone else?

Haha I've done the same thing. That's what happens when the catcher crowds the plate though. I caught one guy in the arm and another in the head. I liked to stand back in the box but it was still legal.

Haha reminds me of the time I stole second. Second baseman tells me the ball was a foul and to go back. I'm thinking he's messing with me and I ask the 2nd base ump who tells me to go back. I start walking and get tagged out. Later come to find out that the 2nd base ump was the older brother of a guy on the opposing team. Bastards.

I played soccer for about 12 years and baseball for probably only 3 or 4 but had more mishaps with baseball. As you can imagine i was a much better soccer player

boys true story the year was 1973 give or take a couple of years.it was about 45 minutes before a red sox game in the old days the ball players would play catch right in front of the red sox dugout.i was standing in the first row trying to get a ball imagine me beantownjim a young kid 13 years old.a ball was thrown to dwight evans he missed it i jumped over the railing and grabbed the ball guess what that prick dwight evans did he yelled and the usher saw me take the ball and threw me out of the park.i actually got thrown out of a red sox game before it started because of dwight evans.i have f-cking hgated that guy ever since i am glad he never got into the hall of fame man i still hate this f-ck.

boys after dwight evans got me thrown out of the park about a week later i was standing in the grandstands on the right field line down the old tunnel.i had dead aim on dwight evans and i fired an old street hockey ball at him.boys i didnt miss the f-ck by much and i took off down the tunnel and into the mens bathroom and didnt get caught.my only regret is that the f-cking ball didnt hit dwight evans in the face i wanted to make a fool out of him like he did to me.

i hate dwight evans and i have since i was 13 years old.

It wasn't me but my best friend and another friend were at a UW Husky football game and as a matter of tradition hit the local bar before kickoff. Anyway, one friend was taking a piss in the outhouse and my best friend ran up and tipped over the porta john. My other friend came out with that blue shit all over his clothes and my other buddy got arrested and put in the stadium drunk tank.

a freshmen wrestling in high school......go to the escondido high school tourney i was severely overmatched to say the least first match against a senior 3rd in state the year before....he gets me in some fuckin' hold and the only thing i could do not to die was bite his stomsch.......i bit and i bit hard........DQ'ED and booted from the buliding

Sophomore year in high school the 2 QB's ahead of me were both seniors and at the same party that got busted. They got suspended for the year and I had to start at QB. First play in my first varsity game was a simple pitch to the back. A LB times the snap perfectly and breaks through the line so fast that I just pitched the ball right to him and takes it in for a TD.

I played baseball for only 1 year growing. I rarely played as I couldn't hit for shit.

I hit a pop up past the 2nd Baseman, well in front of the RFer and remember the outfielders are not playing deep. So, the ball drops in and I round 1st and the 1B Coach as the stop sign up and run right threw it and get thrown about by at least 35 feet and the bases were only 60 feet in distance.

The coach comes over to me and says, you ever pull another hot dog stunt like that you won't play again. I said to him, how is that any different than now?
