F1 - Open Wheel, lots of turns in both directions, much faster cars, a lot more strategy is involved when it comes to pits stops. Qualifying is much more important because it is harder to pass so when you see a driver make a pass it's usually a brilliant maneuver that makes it happen.

NASCAR - slower cars, drive in a circle, the cars weigh almost a ton more.
The races are named after bargain stores.

F1 cars are the most technologically advanced of any form of racing. The cars are rediculously fast, light wieght and race on demanding road courses.

Nascar is like a bunch of sleds going 180 mph in circles.

One sport is popular in America the other one is more popular in the world.

Some Good Information

The differences between the NASCAR and Formula One series are drastic. Both have the ultimate goal of winning in mind. However the methods used to achieve victory are entirely different.

The main difference between the two types of racing is technology. A Formula One race car is the most technologically advanced car in racing. A NASCAR stock car has some technological advances however the methods most used in NASCAR racing is a technique called drafting or just plain on bumping.

The styles of races are entirely different in both series. First, the Formula One circus as it is called, races primarily on road circuits. These tracks have the challenge of right and left hand turns.
In addition elevation changes on the circuits add to the difficulty of driving a Formula One car.

Consequently, NASCAR drivers almost exclusively race on oval shaped circuits. In addition, the stock cars as they are sometimes called are restricted to two to three road course circuits during their season.

Both NASCAR and Formula One race on circuits that vary in length. NASCAR circuits can be as short as one half mile or as long as two and a half miles.
A Formula One track is almost always over 2 miles in length. Furthermore, Formula One racing consists of completing a certain number of laps or two hours in duration, whichever comes first. NASCAR has no time limit and races can be as short as three hundred miles and as long as six hundred miles in distance.

Another difference in both racing series is the way points are awarded.

Each series has a driver's championship that is awarded at the end of the season. NASCAR awards points to many finishing positions.
Formula One awards point to the first eight positions only.

Furthermore Formula One offer a constructor's championship as each team fields two cars and the team or constructor with the most total points claims the constructors championship for the year. NASCAR teams can consist of up to four different cars however; there is no limit to how many cars one certain team can field. Furthermore, NASCAR allows for "single" car entries where as Formula One rules state that each team must field two cars, no more, or no less.

Both forms of racing take safety very seriously. The NASCAR series uses "safer barriers" which are a form of collapsing walls that take most of the impact when a car hits the wall. Furthermore, the cage area around the driver is sturdy and reinforced to allow for a very safe area for the driver.

Question, Do all Cars including the driver have to weigh the same in Nascar, F1, and Indy. I didn't think so but others have told me I'm wrong. I always thought Danica had a slight advantage because she has less body weight than most guys. Appreciate any answers.

I've never made it to the Grand Prix in Montreal, it's a shame it won't be on the calendar this season.

Nascar racing is much better than F1. They actually make passes and have exciting finishes in Nascar.

F1 is nearly unwatchable, in my opinion. It's "follow the leader" racing. You can watch F1 for 2 hours and not see a single pass. Most races are won by pit and fuel strategy. IT SUCKS!!!

If you want to see real bumpin and bangin racing, then Nascar is the way to go. It's the greatest car racing in the world!!!

F1 cars are so aerodynamically made that if you could start one upside down on the ceiling, they would stick to the ceiling at race speed

I dont care what you say, Nascar is absolutely freaking boring!

Goodness, it is F@3king boring! There is no way i am spending a whole day watching some doofuses race around an oval track all day! I dont care if they "bump" or pass, that shit is boring as hell!

Comparing nascar to F1 is like comparing cow patty tossing to basketball!

You gotta be kidding me!

Ps...love the picture of the F1 fans vs Nascar fans..lol

Some Nascar races are boring, but so are F1 races. Betting on the race adds a lot of excitement, especially match-ups.

I'm pretty sure that F1 cars have no clutch or gas pedals. They have levers on the steering wheel. At least nascar is somewhat similar to regular cars.

The problem with F1 is you have like 2-3 elite teams and the rest of the field is garbage (for the most part, but fans like me enjoy the drama with the lower tiered teams). The start of the race often determines the winner. It does in fact come down to pit stops and strategy on many occasion. But the passing when it happens it is so crisp and cool looking. And the cars are so fast and hi-tech.

In NASCAR pretty much the whole field is competitive...It's almost anyone's race at anytime. Which is a good thing. But, they are racing on an oval. And those things are sleds compared to an F1 machine. The two vehicle types are not even in the same realm.

Having said that I will probably catch most F1 races this season and not more than a few minutes of nascar

Take the restrictor plates off of the Nascar race cars at either Talladega or Daytona and they will run about the same speed as the F-1 car, Nascar kills the power on these cars on the Super Speedway tracks with restrictor plates between the carb. and the intake, because the cars will run super fast if they weren't restricted from full capable horse power, call Nascar race cars led sleds if you like but at about 220+ mph those lead sleds want to go airborne.
