Hognuts, the device I cite in the computer thread will connect to any television that has one or more of the following:

1) S-cable In
2) RCA jacks In (red/white/yellow)
3) VGA In

Almost all televisions from past ten years have one or both of the former pair. And an increasing number of televisions sold new now come with the third option as well.

In short, with the device I referenced, you can pretty much connect to any decent television on the market, new or used within five years.

This is the one I got a few months ago

Toshiba 32 regza. 4 HDMI ins, full 1080p and a 16000:1 contrast ratio. Hooked my laptop up to it, worked great. The level of colors and deep blacks when watching HD or a DVD is just silly. Around 900$. Demand nothing less. And when I say that. I don't mean that brand, I just am saying anything you get make sure you get all those features for that money, whatever you decide.

i hear one of the most important features (that doesn't get any publicity) is the contrast ratio.

is 16000:1 contrast ratio the best? some nice new sonys are only in the 8000:1 range.
