Kids??
Yes, they could be cute, and make you laugh with the silly things they do or say sometimes, but in the end what is the real benefit? from the pregnancy until they leave your house, they are huge financial responsibilities, not to mention so many of them grow up to be such a headache and problem makers,
Even more so, you have a beautiful child and she ends up in playboy or a internet site half naked, even naked, or worst with a midget, or a horse or donkey having sex.

from all the doctor bills, clinics, diapers, baby clothes, schools fees, lunches, dinners, picnics, vacations, bail, clothing, cars, bicycles, toys, graduations, pre-school, kindergarden, junior high, high school, shopping, college.

Are we suckers or what?

many of the Suburban kids, that were/are brought up properly are todays crack heads, and addicts, society is totally messed up, remember at one time or another, you have to release them in the public, which means, they will be interacting with other people and kids, and most of the kids show you a good face at home and when they are with their friends hhhhhhhhhhhmmmm


Many kids smoke and do drugs and their parents think they are the best kids ever, dont you remember growing up the things you have done and your parents to this day do not know about it? and you will not tell them because you want them to see you in a different image,.

You work for years to send your kids to school, college, and then they go and party and have sex like crazy and even drop out, that cash could have given you a better car, house, vacation etc but then thats life I guess.

Are we saying that we should not have any more kids, no, its going to continue, but, but, why do we have them?????????? lol

I've thought about this a lot looking at it from the same angle you are. Why have a child who will inhibit you from doing the things you want to do whenever you want to do them?

At the end of the day, though, I'm certain there's something in our DNA that compels us to ensure that our species survives, and that our specific line lives on as well.

lemme put it this way,
if you have kids, why? whats the reason that you have/had them,
and if you plan to, whats the reason??

Im happy that my parents had me, but I know I was not a "planned" child,
and so are many kids today.

I'm not sure how NOT having kids is selfish. One isn't obligated to have kids. To someone, the purpose of life isn't to keep the species going.

I'll tell you what's selfish: having kids when you're not equipped to be a good parent. How many people around the world have kids when they aren't in a good position to raise them? How many people have kids simply because they're too lazy and/or stupid to practice safe sex? They're putting their kids at a disadvantage in life because THEY are being selfish.

That's how I see it.

This is a very good question, and I do agree most people have kids without really knowing why and many regret it later on in life. Not having kids is not selfish at all, it's a personal choice some make because it's what makes them happy. Not a single problem with that.

I personally do want kids when I'm a little older. Not because I want to keep the human species alive because I really couldn't care less about that. If humans die off in a thousand years it wouldn't bother me at all and I wish good luck to the new species taking over. I want kids because although it sounds kinda gay for a guy to say, there's a special bond in the parent/child relationship. It's someone you can help shape into a good person, and even try to give experiences that you might have never had. Having a kid brings a lot of pride to most parents.

Are there a lot of fucked up kids? Yes, but there's a lot of fucked up parents out there too. I'd be the first to say I couldn't handle having a daughter of mine on playboy or half naked on the internet. Although their friends and society do influence those kind of decisions they make, it's up to the parents to make sure they don't grow up to be a drug addicted slut. I know tons of chicks like that and most are like that because they didn't get much attention from their parents so they do that to get the attention from guys. Being attentive to your child's life can make a huge impact, even if you don't see it right away.

So to answer the question; there's a lot of reasons people have kids. Keeping the population going is probably the worst, right up there with just being bored (trust me it's a real reason, I know a few girls that had kids because they felt their life was too boring). You shouldn't have a child though if you aren't able to support it both emotionally and financially, and are not absolutely sure that you are ready to and actually WANT to take care of somebody for the next 18+ years.
