Easily done, but wont be the best of accommodations or food.... Hopefully not a REAL 3-day weekend like 4th of July... be very hard to do it on a "REAL" 3day weekend.

Hotels:
Circus Circus
Wild Wild West
Hooters
Palace Station

Food:
Ellis Island ($7 prime rib dinner or $6 Steak and Eggs)
Silver Sevens (5.99 1/2pd Burger with ENDLESS fries)
Tony Romas on Fremont (9p-11p $12 Steak and Lobster with glass of wine)
Heart Attack Grill (1 free meal if you are over 350lbs)

Tons more, but it can be done... unless you are talking about a government holiday weekend... then the room rates will kill you.

if flying from certain locations on the east coast you could go with a economy airline like frontier or spirit for about $300 round trip, they have a decent hostel ( hostel Cat )downtown for about 18 bucks a night which includes breakfast and wi-fi (or upgrade to a hotel downtown like golden gate for about 10 bucks more.) Get a 3 day pass for the duece doubledecker bus for about 20 bucks which goes up and down strip constantly from downtown and you can also use it for the regular city bus. Eat at the silver sevens buffet for about 6 bucks with a players card and ya still have about a hundred bucks to gamble with and turn into a fortune..

I've done a vacation package from Southwest before (not sure which airport you are leaving from or dates). Sometimes the package deal includes a few buffet passes depending on where you stay or food/beverage credits. Wont' be staying at the high end places but should be able to find something decent right at or below $500. Perry has good advice as well about getting player cards and will get some perks there too. In my younger days on a budget I did that from time to time, now I don't even bother with a players card (but I should!)

Have a vagina?

That'll get you dinner, movie.... Hell, who am I kidding? That'll get you a house, a car and, should you decide to end the marriage, a near life-time of free cash from your ex-puppet American worker slave. Oh and did I forget the kids? You get the kids, too.

Oprah channel .... turned ON!!! HOLLA!

Go on hotwire and get one of their unpublished rates and you can actually get quite a good rate on a (relatively) nice resort for about $100 bucks for the weekend (dont forget to add about a 20-25 dollar a night resort fee which almost all of the hotels charge). Its VERY easy to figure out which hotel is which even though you cant see the hotels name for the unpublished rates for vegas on hotwire

here is an article on what to do with a $100 gambling budget...I would stick to video poker, low stakes blackjack and a little sports action...and buy a weekend bus pass to get around....just cant go on even mini tilt!

What Would You Do With A $100 Gambling Budget?

When we looked at the average Las Vegas visitor, a few things that stood out. Some commenters were surprised so many people (15%) still book Las Vegas visits through travel agents while other commenters were surprised that some visitors (13%) had a gambling budget between $0 and $99. Today's average Las Vegas visitor isn't quite the same as we remember from Vegas Vacation.
People reached out directly to discuss the subject of gambling budgets since I’m a gambler. According to research by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, 80% of visitors who gamble do so on the Vegas Strip. Those people may not be spending as much money on gambling as they did 30 years ago, but they’re making their gambling budgets last all day. The report indicates 54% of those gamblers play slot machines and the Vegas Strip might not be the best place to get the most bang for their buck.

This writer grew up in the era when a trip to Las Vegas was considered a gambling vacation. Great dinners and nights at the club were fun additions, but nothing that wasn't readily available in other cities. Before living in Las Vegas, it would have been nearly impossible to plan a day around a $100 gambling budget. Gambling was something special and unavailable most everywhere else, so it was treated differently. That's not the case today. It seems as if people are having an easier time gambling with a budget of $100 or less.
How would you stretch a $100 gambling budget to last all day on vacation in Las Vegas? Let us know in the comments below. I'll go first.
Early Morning: Play $20 in loud penny slots while sipping coffee to wake up.
Late Morning/Early Afternoon: Head to Downtown Vegas and buy in for $40 at the $5 blackjack game at El Cortez.
Night: Head to TAG Bar at The Quad and play $20 worth of video poker and drink too much complimentary craft beer.
Early Morning: Play $20 in quarter reel slots to wind down before passing out.

lots of comments from readers here:

haa, I would think of it as an adventure

i thought about trying to go for a weekend on all of the change i had accumulated (would've been < $500) to see what I could pull off, but once I started driving out I just stopped by the bank and picked up a real BR...i had researched all the places that still had coin in slots and everything...was going to run it through once and then switch to bills...unfortunately they are also coin out only so that didnt work as planned anyway

in high school (underaged), I drove with a buddy to Atlantic City from DC with $65 and a fake ID with and no hotel room............it didnt go all that well

Yeah, Vegas can be a pretty sad place to be if you are broke out there, but if you have never seen it and just want to have a weekend adventure exploring the place could be fun if you have the right mindset -or maybe Tanner has a separate budget for gambling and just wants to barely get by on the essentials and use his real bankroll for gaming

dude, 500 bucks (assuming for himself) for airline, hotel AND food from the east coast?
airfare and 2 nights in a hotel already costs him 400 if not all 500 bucks depending when he goes. what are you going to do with 100 and table minimums are like 10-15? you go to vegas to see and experience nice stuff. the limiting factor to his experiences will be money.

yeah you can have a good time in vegas for cheap if he lived in LA and just drove over, then it's not imperative that he actually spends money since he can literally go whenever he wants. but if you're going to drop money and time for a plane trip across the country, you should really make your dollar count.

very good point....i live in LA...you can get $1 bus rides from megabus if you have the patience and dont mind the ride....i think they have at least 1 $1 ticket on each bus or something...i prob wouldnt recommend coming from the east coast on a $500 budget including transport and hotel...

I hear ya. Better off doing something else. Vegas isn't really setup for budget travel, especially these days.

Just wanted to pointout how you get down man.

The last few times I've been there from the DC area the airfare was over $350, sometimes over $400. There's 3 major airports in this area too. I'm not sure how you could do $500 total and have a good time. Keep us posted.....
