Ok..ok.. I know most on here think the Raiders are the gutter of the NFL, etc..etc. But i wanted to get an honest opinion around the country. The majority of Raiderfans think Lane Kiffin even @ 5-12 over his tenure hasn't been given a fair shake by Davis. Yes we all understand the circumstances (e.g. The Al Davis way, Arkansas rumor, etc) so there no need to go over it again. Ok forget succeeding, but how about some fucking stability? It takes atleast 2-3 years for a coaching staff and system to establish themselves. How would any team succeed when the coaching situation is a revolving door year after year. Especially now with some really talented rookies who are coached under Kiffin.

For whatever rumors you've read or heard, here's the honest truth. The bottom line is that lockerroom is behind Kiffin. The players have already spoken. Nmamdi Asomouga, Ronald Curry, Jamarcus, McFadden, Thomas Howard, and Kirk Morrison. All of those guys are contributers and all of them disagree he should be fired but at the same time, they understand its Al's team so they can't go too far as far as their opinions. A prime example is that last year after running off 6 straight losses, that lockerroom could have easily imploded. But instead, they've stuck together because they believe in the system Lane's trying to implement.

I could go on and on but i just wanted your opinions.

Is Lane getting a fair shake or is Al justified in trying to fire him midseason?

Al Davis and fair should never be used in the same sentence. If he is going to fire him, then do it. What will change this week that will change Davis' mind? If he gets fired, they may only win 2-3 more games and Davis will lose all of his veterans.

Right, I understand that, but what good would a coaching change do again? This would be the 5th coach in 5 years. No team can be stable.

There is no way in hell you can succeed going through coaches like this. With the complexity of the NFL a coach has to have at LEAST 2 years to implement his system and get the players that best fit it. The way Al Davis runs through coaches shows that it would be in the franchises best interest if he relinquished total control.
On a side not I would love for him to can Kiffin so he can come to Syracuse and try to restore our embarrassment of a football program.

Kiffin will be a name in the NFL one day, just not on the Rayduhs. Davis has set him up to fail.

Seems to me like Davis needs to be a man about this and just make a decision. Total BS to just keep Kiffin waiting. Kiffin is just moving forward and doing his job - class act.

Kiffin wanted to hire his dad to coach the defense and Al wouldn't let him.
Kiffen getting screwed by Al

Till Al goes the Raiders will suffer

Kiffin was a horrible hire to begin with, he is stuck with a horrible qb in Jamarcus Russell. Kiffin new what he was getting into whne he took the job, dont forget Steve Sarkisian turned it down. He will be fired as soon as there 1-4 or 1-5.

No decent coach in their right mind would go to the Raiders with Al Davis running the show. Lane Kiffin wasn't a good hire, but no one else wanted the job that was more qualified. Jamarcus Russell is a joke of a qb, kind of reminds me of Tavarius Jackson except TJack wasn't taken with the #1 overall pick. Same weaknesses; can't read a defense, no accuracy, zones in on one receiver, etc...

When Kiffin took the job that nobody else would (including coaching mate Steve Sark) he knew or should've known what he was getting himself into. Nobody put a gun to his head to take the Raiders job. As big a kook as Al Davis is, he is still signing the checks and he is a hall of famer, and until he croaks he will run the Raiders how he wants to - like a jackass. However, I don't feel one bit bad for Kiffin. He was humble when he took the job, and as Al Davis said, he has since changed. It isn't as if he has really accomplished shit either. They hired him to develop Russell and that hasn't exactly happened, and his offense is as unsophisitcated as any in the league. Keeping games close isn't noteworthy to me. It's the NFL, not college. Kiffin shouldve either not taken the job or stood down to Al.

Dollar Bill Wirtz was a HOFer too, and he ran the Blackhawks in the ground for 15 years at the end.

Davis is a cancer that needs to look in the mirror if he wants to see the real problems with his team.

Is a Raiderfan, it really is sad what Al Davis has done. I think this team can and has rallied behind Kiffin. Unfortunately Davis's ego is too big for him to care for the well being of his players, organization and certainly not the fans.

I can't wait for Davis to check out.

rUMOR HAS IT! When some out of state newspaper wrote up a derogatory article on kiffin, the Raiders distributed it to all the media. Now that's a low blow!
