What's Better: Linsanity or Tebowmania?
by SodaHead Sports Posted February 12, 2012 (13 hours ago)

New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin has been on a real role, scoring 20 points or more in five straight games -- and all of them wins. While the Knicks are still under .500 at 13-15, they are in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference for now. There were high expectations for the Knicks this season, but with Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony not meshing as well as many thought they would, the team slid out of playoff contention faster than a Lin layup.

Lin has since rejuvenated the team, ironically when Stoudemire and Anthony have been out of action due to personal and medical reasons. Barely a week has gone by and "linsanity" has taken not just New York but the entire sports world by storm. But is "linsanity" bigger than "tebowmania"? Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow came into the NFL with a lot of buzz, but his critics said he couldn't be a professional football player. Tebow proved them wrong this past NFL season, leading the Broncos to an 8-8 record, a division title, and even a playoff win.

The difference between Lin and Tebow is...well, no one in the NBA world really knew Lin existed, outside of Knicks coaches and the Golden State Warrior fans, who got to briefly know him during his stint there. There was no buzz around Lin. He was nothing more than a fourth-string guard on the verge of being cut. He was undrafted. Tebow? First round pick with a College Football Hall-of-Fame-worthy career at the University of Florida.

There are major similarities though: Both are revitalizing once-legendary franchises and are out to inspire others. Can "linsanity" take the Knicks to the playoffs and have more success than Tebow's "tebowmania"? That remains to be seen, but we're sure Knicks fans will certainly enjoy the ride. One thing's for sure: Harvard grad Jeremy Lin won't have to worry about sleeping on his brother's couch anymore. We hope.

More like what's worse. I guess Lin's is less annoying as it appears he can play.

Heard Lin thanking God during a post game interview though so its definitely still a tight call. :lolBIG:

Lin is less annoying. I don't think either guy has staying power. Lin turnover's and the fact he'll be figured out before too long will make life hard on him, while Tebow's arm strength and wobbly balls won't cut it in the NFL.

Linsanity because dude can actually play the entire game well. Probably had to overcome all kinds of racial biases too. Tebow not so much

On one hand we have a guy who was voted the best player in college, lead his team to a National title, was drafted in the first round and lead his NFL team to the playoffs.

On the other hand we have a guy with 5 NBA starts.

They are both equally annoying with a slight nod to the rice eater being the lesser of the 2.

Lin wont be as marketable as Tebow simply because Tebow is like a pro wrestler...Half the fans love him and the other half hate him but they both show up...With Lin its all 1 sided you either love him or dont care....

If Lin can keep this up once teams adjust to him and cut down his turnovers, he will be a top point guard.

Tebow Time joins Lin-sanity in New York

Tim Tebow is going to New York to play for the Jets. The whole deal went down a bit like a typical Tebow play. Touch and go. A nailbiter. You think this isn't going to work, and then touchdown!

Tebow, the highly devout Christian, has been tempted by the biggest apple of them all-- New York City.

Overnight, the New York jets confirmed the man many saw as a miracle worker in Denver will come play for a team some think could use a little divine intervention.

New York will now have two highly worshipped, devoutly Christian athletes. Knicks' point guard Jeremy Lin, also deeply religious, created a crush of "Linsanity" just last month.

Tebow and Lin have even bonded over their shared faith. Linsanity and Tebowmania, it sounds like a match made in heaven.

But it's all playing out in Gotham City from the streets of Manhattan to the runways at New York's Laguardia Airport.

In fact, some fans have likened the duo to Batman and Robin.

"Tebow and Lin are going to clean up the streets of New York or be together for the Apocalypse," one fan wrote.

But are New Yorkers really ready to Tebow? They are putting their passion on display by striking Tebow's prayer pose. After all, hell hath no fur like a scorned New York sports fan.

The Jets already have a starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez. Which prompted Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie to tweet: "Y bring Tebow in when we need to bring in more weapons for Mark Sanchez, let's build the team around him."

And while Tebow may not be the answer to every Jet's prayers, maybe New Yorkers could stand to have a little more faith.
