I lived in part of Nascar country for a few years, I could never understand people fistfighting over the numbers on a car that drove around a lap until I went to a race.
I was the same way. After college, I was working professionally at a golf course and was giving a lesson to a member who was doing merchandising for then, Matt Kenseths championship run.
I couldn't care less about Nascar at the time. He gave me pit passes and took me around the drivers and such. It was cool, but didn't do much for me....then once all 42 cars turned on their engines, the smell of burnt rubber and gasoline, I WAS HOOKED! It was at Richmond, where they only go 150MPH and I was floored how fast it was in person! TV doesn't do it justice what-so-ever! I can only imagine seeing cars at Atlanta or Talladega.
I started doing a lot of research on the sport and found some good info on gambling. Took 2 years, but then started making killer $ each year betting the sport.
For those who hate the sport, do yourself a favor and go to 1 race. I'd find it hard to imagine that you wouldn't be hooked as well
