Whats an Evangelical?

I hear evangelical a lot lately, I always just thought it was what you called religous people in the states which I'm thinking is'nt right now and its a certin type of religion.

Anyway I'm not thinking of converting or anything I was just wondering what excatly it was seeing I hear it so much lately.

Ok so apart from being born again are they any different than other christians. I dont believe in god or religion but I was born catholic which is a christian and catholics believe in the bible and jesus and stuff is that basicly the same as an evangecial.

there bots. all the religion are bots because they need to live there life according to what somebody else wants, they dont have the capability to live there own lives. thats the definition of a bot. controlled, empty, easily manipulated which is the majority of americans.

i'm not anti religion (i'm agnostic...i don't know)...i'm anti institutionalization of religion.....faith can be healthy at a personal level.....

Another question someone mentioned Bush was one, is Cheney and other high ranking republicans evangelicals. And also is there a lot of these people in the states.

They kind of remind me of Jahovas dont know if thats spelled right but the ones that come knock on your door they once told me the devil was near, I was pretty stoned at the time cant remember what I said but when they're in my area they dont come to my house anymore.

nah cheney is the brains of the operation well him and the other neocons in the background....hell his daughter is gay....i think he's labeled as methodist or something i dunno

Hard to tell here what's being said here in ignorance and what's being said in jest. Probably mostly both.

Basically, people who consider themselves Evangelicals take the Scriptures, particularly the Gospels, at face value and believe them to be the actual word of God. But of course, as with all religions, individuals interpret things based on their own morality and viewpoint, so there's not a single "playbook" which all Evangelicals follow.

But yes, it's pretty safe bet that if someone considers themselves an Evangelical they believe that the only path to heaven is through Jesus Christ, and they would like to convince non believers to find salvation as well. How dare they!

As a 48 year resident of Texas and the Deep South, I can say this is pretty straight. But mix in some old time Pentacostal and AssembliesOfGod folks to more fully flesh out your crowd.
