Are members of those universities considered state employees and would they be allowed to travel to Texas to play in a game?

Fresno St has a game in Tuscaloosa 2nd or 3rd week of the season and Alabama is one of the 4 states on the ban list. If Fresno cancels the game leaving Alabama a game short , it might cause chaos later.

"California may be able to stop their state employees, but they can't stop all the businesses that are fleeing over taxation and regulation and relocating to Texas," said John Wittman, a spokesman for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican.

Banning travel to "anti lgbt" states.

I'm sure California would welcome teams from those states to fill their stadiums at bowl time, no?

California has issued a ban on state-funded and state-sponsored travel to four more states that it says have laws discriminating against LGBTQ people.

Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee were the original states banned by AB 1887, but Becerra added Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota and Texas on Thursday, citing what he called new discriminatory legislation enacted against the LGBTQ community in those states.

should come into play next year as 3 of the 8 ncaa tournament early sites are on their ban list.

wish bama would cancel the fresno game and not give $1.5M to a california state school.

yes, of course

one sad realization here is the amount of researchers, students, and professors from CA state schools that are now unable to attend conferences and seminars that help them gain knowledge and experience in their field. They were already shut off from a few big conferences in Memphis this year and now you can add Charlotte, Birmingham, Dallas, Houston, etc to the list. UAB, for example, has a great medical school and hosts a ton of events each year through their School of Medicine...held, of course, in Birmingham. I know Austin annually hosts a bunch of research events sponsored by UT.

certainly sports bans will make the headlines, especially in ncaa tourney season 2018, but they are doing a major disservice to themselves. As usual, a bizarre piece of liberal legislation to advance the few, harms the many.

Without Cali you'd be left with a helluva lot less innovation, food and style

wonder if the more progressive attitudes and mixing of different ideas out here have anything to do with why such a large percentage of game changing ideas have come from Cali. Clearly I'm defensive but you guys seem awfully old and stuck in the past with your comments on the entire state

don't agree with everything but that's the beauty of life...at least to some

Cali is one of the only reasons we are still a big deal as a country

Think about it. Cali has won and is winning the r&d war and is the WORLD leader in tech, life sciences and innovation.

How did all your Cali bashing states do in the war to stay a leader in manufacturing?? You lost miserably and now blame everything on others who are not stuck in the past. Before you get all fired up please take a minute to think about the truth behind what I've said.

keep your clown ideas out of our "clown" state

Yeah, because there isn't any innovation, style and food in the other 49 states. What a weird comment to make.

That's why I said a lot less. Do you disagree that California is the sixth largest economy in the world, has produced a ton more patents than any other state? Care to guess what percentage of venture capital funding sits in California?

Im sick of people bashing California. Re read the post. The logic is sound. The message hurts.

You have no facts and no argument so you come with this?

It simply proves my point.

You are starting an argument you can't win.

En Fuego started his attack by putting in bold a part of my post that directly contradicts what he is attacking me for saying. Just look above. I almost feel bad. Please just re read the posts. Grab an adult if needed. I have the facts and the logic behind me.

Not a good idea to keep digging here. You risk further embarrassment.

So lemme get this scraight?
Cali will ban folks/teams/business from going to a state that might make fun of fags?

is this a twilight zone moment? Is Georgia banning travel to states that make fun of rednecks? Detroit banning travel to blacks to Mississippi?

What the fuck are wrong with these people
