How many days are free from any betting action in the major sports during the year? All serious professional gamblers know the answer. It’s the days before and after baseball’s All Star game.

It is a quiet time for sportsmen certainly, although I figure many of the grinders are still looking over game plans for the days ahead. Good time to look over some NFL information or some more in depth bases studying. One can always find new lessons if the passion is there to be a winner.

Thanks General.Seems to be getting worse by the minute. My other option is to go out tonight and try to kill the flu with massive amounts of booze.

I have known many pro gamblers over the years and there is no time off for them. They all seem to have the same caracteristics, live and breathe gambling, no social life, no family, generally selfish and treat everyone else with contempt.

It never ceases to amaze me how people hold them in such high esteem, I have always felt sorry for them. The formula is simple, the more time you put in, the better the rewards but it has to be balanced with the rest of your life.

I spent 3 hours in my brand spanking new CAN$150 million local casino this afternoon. It has Canada's largest poker room at 20 tables. Five in action when I arrived at 1 pm and 7 when I left. I guess there will be 12-15 in action tonight and maybe all 20 on weekends. Every table has an automatic shuffler, which is good since the new dealers manage to get out 30-35 hands per hour with the shufflers. Otherwise I hate to think how slow the game would be, but they'll improve. Holdem limits from 2/4 to 30/60 and no limit.

Got lucky and made almost 20 big bets at 8/16, many courtesy of a huge fish sitting on my left. Saw many familiar faces and look forward to going back and finding more fish.

By the looks of it, plenty bet home run derbies and I am sure there is a ton of action hitting the WNBA relatively speaking. This is a perfect time to take more than 3 days off. Without exception the time after the break has not been predictable in my estimation. The timing of some players is off and streaks and rhythms that were established disappear. It almost feels like opening week of the season. Just fair warning, I always say take it easy coming off the break.
