After Monday's Game 5 was suspended, TV announcer's clearly stated they thought the home plate umpire was squeezing Kasmir. The said Hammels was getting calls that Kasmir needed to be getting. Do you think the Umps are aware of this criticsm and will it affect their umping tonight?

As Buck and McCarver have pointed out, the umpiring in this Series has been abysmal. (More evidence that they are the best announcing team in any sport.)

Legitimate criticism from announcers should be the least of these guy's worries. If there's any justice at all, they'll all be looking for new jobs come spring.

I believe it. Sutcliffe is great to listen to - ALWAYS says what he thinks.

It's OK, Bud Selig said on national radio and TV that they were doing an "exceptional" job.

I am sure they will have a tape of that comment at thier next contract negotiations..........Selig is an idiot.

Kinda hard to replace when they are tenured.

Umpires don't give a shit what fans think. As a general rule, fans know nothing about baseball, especially the rules. Tonight is just another game for them.

That being said, the plate umpire was obviously inconsistent on Monday. Go Rays.

Nice strike 3 call "home plate ump called a swinging strike without appeal." This was another questionable ball-strike call that went against T.B. I hate it when home plate umps call a swinging strike on a check swing. They have a terrible angle. Umps were terrible the whole series. Gotta give Philly pitchers credit, eventhough they had a little help from the umps they didn't walk any T.B. batters.

The biggest joke in baseball is the strike zone. MLB has a rule on what the strike zone actually is but it's not followed. It seems every ump behind the plate has their own idea on what the strike zone is.

There is absolutely no consistency in calling strikes.

What lost you the nod? The fact that you often wager on baseball?
:ohno:
No, I went to professional umpiring school, and barely missed the cut. Would have made it into pro ball if I had come back a 2nd time, but decided to just do college ball. Professional baseball pays almost nothing until you make the majors, and it's tougher to make it in the MLB as an umpire than it is as a player. Just not many jobs, and all of those guys are tenured. I really was nowhere close to umpiring this game, I was just making a joke. But I know that myself and several of my friends that worked college and minor leagues.....we could do just as good of a job as any MLB umpire.

I do sometimes wonder what would have happened if I would have gone back for that second year. Somebody has to get a lucky break and make the MLB. But with all the sacrifices of years of making no money, it's a tough risk to take.

Officiating in every sport sucks more than ever and it is simply ridiculous.

Replay should be used for everything and should not need indisputibal evidence.
