Break your rules, men.

Pats -16 is a great bet. This is the Playoffs. You get the best out of both teams. There is no comparison between these two teams. This will be the biggest margin of victory in this year's Playoffs.

Well Said, were there a time I was gonna Break That Rule this would be it.

I wonder if anyone actually got -14 or eve -14,5 :):)ANYwhere :):)if so they musta been standing at the damn Bet Window after camping out for hours

If the MONEY Obstacle wasn't there Roger & The NFL could MAKE JERRY DO IT :):)

That in itself would be entertaining.

My Stake in this is I don't wanna see ROMO playing at Altitude in Cold as a Witches Tit DENVER and especially if they don't choose to shore up their Offensive Line cuz Romo would simply not last there. IMO he might not even make it to the Cold Weather Games.

Where do you think Romo lands?

I played Hou +15.5.....nothing crazy but I'm not passing up a defense dog playing with a chip being this big of a dog.....especially after being shutout in New England this year. Opened at 13.5 and now 15.5. My guess 27-13.....right in the middle

I haven't devoted any thought to where Romo lands really past feeling like Denver is less the great fit others seem to think that would be. Mostly I've ignored thinking about it cuz its hard for me to imagine Jerry actually letting him go and I wanted to wait till Dak emerged Healthy without some serious injury during these Playoffs.

Now that you've proposed Houston its unlikely I'll find a better fit, than that. IMO anyways....off the top of my head maybe San Francisco or Chicago. Challenge for me is I don't particularly like Tony Romo that much as a QB as from a betting perspective I've suffered too much letdown/lack of ComeThrough from the guy.

I do respect the strategy that is jumping on a Double-Digit Defensive Minded dog and even more respect a Play that is opposite of a "Gift", that is to say Contrarian to what its seems so evident should happen and that the vast majority of The Public will bet on taking place. :toast: That said though with this particular one, I'll look for some interesting Prop.

If you believe in point spreads, let’s assume that the New England Patriots are heading to the AFC championship game.
The Houston Texans opened as 16-point underdogs in their divisional round game next Saturday at the Patriots. That’s according to Sportsbook.com, via Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, and WestGate Las Vegas sportsbook manager Joel Sherman. That seems like an enormous spread for a playoff game, and it is, but it’s not the largest ever.
According to pro-football-reference.com, there have been three playoff games with point spread larger than 16 points, including a Super Bowl:

  • At the end of the 1998 season the Arizona Cardinals, led by Jake Plummer, upset the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round and then were 16.5-point underdogs at the Minnesota Vikings, who went 15-1 with rookie receiver Randy Moss. The Vikings won by 20 in that divisional round win.
  • In most famous upset in NFL history, the New York Jets were 18-point underdogs in Super Bowl III and beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7.
  • In the largest spread in NFL playoff history, the San Francisco 49ers were 19-point favorites over the San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX. The 49ers won 49-26.
The Texans’ spread could change before kickoff. Opening lines often move by a few points. Who knows, it could move up to 49ers-Chargers territory by Saturday night. It won’t be easy for anyone to take the Texans and Brock Osweiler against the 14-2 New England Patriots and Tom Brady, even getting 16 points. Also, the Patriots (with rookie Jacoby Brissett at quarterback) beat the Texans 27-0 in Week 3.
No matter where the spread ends up, it’s obvious that the Texans have a huge challenge ahead of them. Maybe they can call Joe Namath to give a pep talk.

I think this hits 17, and becomes the largest Non Superbowl line in the merger era. There was no resistance at -14. The next resistance point is -17.

Certainly Sounds Reasonable. No Resistance encountered at 14 Next R at 17 just like SQ https://www.google.com/search?q=SQ+stock+quote&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 maybe this is An Omen.

I'd forgotten about SF 49ers -19 vs. SD Chargers +19 in 1994. According to InflationCalculator.com factoring stuff in +19 points (1994) = those 19 1994 points should be 30.5 points per today's Valuations so The Chargers would have covered.

by a whole Touchdown.

I think.

Here, I made a Diagram:

19 in 1994 → 30.5 in 2016

and a Chot:

US_Historical_Inflation_2017.svg

What does all this mean?

I should have held onto that Chargers Ticket. :(

BAMA should need TWO TD's from their excellent Defense Tonight, rather than that ONE that that they usually contribute.

I don't know that we could have asked for a better game, Matchups-wise, Analysis-Wise. IMO Boiled Down: If BAMA's Frosh QB is able to somehow bring Poise, this will be YUGE and BAMA Pass Coverage has to somehow keep from getting exploited like previous QBs who can squeeze accurate passes into tight windows have gotten away with versus them.

Got a Starving Clemson Team here with a whole lotta Public Love in this game. They don't get much more Interesting than this here.

Oh Yeah, Sarkasian in tonight as Offensive Co-Ordinator for BAMA, Lane Kiffin GONE. Tonight's Offensive Play calling alone makes this Must See TV.

Game Of The Year.

Gotta Love It.

You are right....if the Alabama QB has a big night, Clemson is toast.....

Not unless BAMA can contain WATSON. I believe he threw for 440 last year :):)I know Apples & Oranges, This Defense ain't THAT Defense

or at least BAMA Backers better damn well Hope its not.

Last Season's Game saw 1025 yards and 85 Points....Yards ^^^^ up there may be approximate, too lazy to look it up

It was a LOT

14? You guys on drugs? Books would get slammed if that were the case.

I see single digit like 8-9.

Hey Mango, did you wager on this? Patriots played like crap and still covered 16pt spread.

I hope you don't gamble.
