What was on Yadier Molina's chest protector?

In case you missed it today, an 82 mph curve ball bounced in the dirt and then just stuck to Molina's gear.

No amount of pine tar in the world would cause a ball traveling at that speed to do that.

Why was his chest protector or the ball not investigated? This is sketchy.

Does this possibly have anything to do with this?

Great point Harry. They must have lost the "pine tar amount/temperature-humidity at home" chart. Too much in early April.

lots of pitchers use products to help their grip of the ball.

Could be Bullfrog or something similar on the ball. Was not on the chest protector...

That's one of the funniest things I have seen. After play was over Molina had the biggest sh-it eating grin on his face
umpire knew too.

A touch of something here or there, sure. Ball must have really been doctored up though. That was not natural.

Cubs take 2 of 3 from the Cardinals, but Cardinals continue to sweep the league in cheating.

Former catcher and current Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber, who hit the go-ahead 3-run home run two at-bats later, explained it's not uncommon for catchers to put pine tar on their gear.

"Catchers like to put pine tar on their shin guards and throw balls to second base and get a good feeling," Schwarber said. "Maybe it rubbed off some and it stuck. You never know. That's a pretty crazy theory. I don't know. I put pine tar on my shin guards. It happens."

Either way, the incident helped unravel the inning that turned a 4-2 Cardinals lead into an eventual 6-4 Cubs win.

Pine tar wouldn't do that.

Needs to be investigated. Not surprised it was brushed under the rug though.

The Cubs had a foreign substance on their shoes and where putting it in the batters box for use at a later time sad this happened now we won't know what the Cubs were up to

It's cheating only if you get caught.

Jayson KKward said its a product called Tuf-Skin, a colorless tacky spray thats assists in taping ankles, along with some pine tar. he played with cards and knew exactly what it was when questioned by Chicago Media. Molina always was best at blocking balls, pretty sure it helps with deadening the spin rate with balls in the dirt.

This only serves to prove my point. Shady evidence found on field, immediately investigated, Sosa gets 8 game suspension.

Why was this treated differently? This seems to be beyond the normal agreed-upon unspoken bending of the rules.

Whatever, we won the game. Cardinals just cheat harder than anyone else. The Cardinal way.

He did get caught, and just stood there with a guilty grin. And the umpire proceeded to do nothing. Play on.

Just weird, that's all.

Someone should edit this into the background of that Naked Gun movie scene where Frank Drebin is yelling "Nothing to see here! Move along! Nothing to see here!"
