Don't know what your expertise is, but it is difficult for an American to break into the offshore industry without some juice(knowing someone)
But I have seen electricians, musicians, restaurant owners, and mechanics come down and do well...
The money isn't as good, but peace of mind is....
making lines and taking bets ( for a book) would probably be my thing if I were to go to CR ( unlikely). I'm getting too old for actual construction work,I'm 45, younger Ticos have great advantage on me there, not a musician ( not at all), not a real mechanic, not a restauranteur.
I would be excellent at taking bets via phone from US punters, I could do that, for sure.... but so could Jose, if he speaks good English.
I don't think I'm terribly needed by a book in CR.... maybe a chance if my Spanish was excellent. I'd probably be desirable if spoke English,Spanish, and Korean and Vietnamese fluently.
I get it, I'm cool to retire in CR .... if I bring 500k+ with me.... not too welcome if I want to take a potential job from a Tico/Tica.
