Ordered a video game on Ebay. Realized I had the wrong address and hit stop on my browser but it went through. Picked the person to order from (about 7 comparable prices) because they were close to me in location. Within a minute of confirming the wrong address, I sent a message to the Ebay account of the seller telling them the correct address.
Here is where it gets tricky.
I get a message back more than 24 hours later saying that the folks in charge of sending it have already received the A-ok for the original address. I also learn that the item is not being shipped from the close location listed, but that the seller has numerous locations throughout the US (not listed anywhere in the ad).
If the person ships it to the wrong address where I am unable to receive mail (last time I sent it there the new renters kept the item (a $140 IPod that was marked received at the address by the tracking info), don't want to risk it again), should I leave negative feedback? Or is it my own fault for failing to update my address at the confirmation screen?
Just wondering what folks think. I have flawless Ebay feedback myself (up to about 80 good transactions of buying and selling) but I figured telling them I made a mistake a minute after purchasing was enough of a window to correct it.
What would you do?
