there is a bunch of stuff (other than the obvious) that you can do

off the top of my head

go to the stratosphere and ride the attractions at the top of the tower, I did the 'big shot' ........except for the bungee jumping I did this year...that comes second in term of getting close to crap my pants

there are very cool 'star trek' attractions at the Hilton (off the strip) , if you like sci-fi its a must do

you can do a quick trip to the Hoover Dam , its about 1 hour max (I dont recall how long it took me to drive up there)

there are many shows going on (the beatles one sounds interesting, I havent seen that one)

roller coaster rides at the New York - New York hotel and also at another one that I dont recall what it was but its down the strip (towards downtown and way before the stratosphere)

enjoy the freebies (fountain show at the bellagio and the volcano stuff at the mirage I think it was?)

getting around in vegas is pretty easy (geographically) HOWEVER the traffic is crazy (but of course not as crazy as san jose

the thing that makes it interesting are the cars with license plates from california, they drive almost as we do....and of course a tico versus a californian (from say LAX) ends up in mutual insults :lolBIG:

I STRONGLY suggest you stick to cabs and the little monorail they have in Vegas , you will watch to walk a lot too as the strip is full of casinos.......you can simply go from one bar to the other. You can however rent a car if you want to drive to other places like Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon casino/resort. I would suggest Enterprise as they 'pick you up' like they say in the commercial

do NOT try to cross the street if its obvious that you are not suposed to........DO take the elevators/overpass crossing (is that how those are called?)

its illegal to flag a cab on the strip (and perhaps other roads) what you do is you go to the front door of a big hotel and for sure there will be a bunch of cabs there , also there is no 'late' in Vegas, non stop city for sure :dancefool

several hotels have free shuttles from one hotel to the other (say the harrahs properties, you can go from the rio to paris to balleys etc )

speaking of which, i'd love to know how much those guys that work the cab lines make in tips. just about everyone gives them a buck or two and all they do is blow their whistle, ask you where you are going than open the door. the line is pretty much nonstop during afternoon and evening

I looooove vegas, but then I spend a lot of time gambling and in clubs... Restaurants are nice, also tons of good shows, personally I like comedy and stuff but it's fun to go out of your element and see a musical or magic or a cirque...

Also if you have a chance to check out the surrounding desert it's pretty amazing. Take a day and go hiking in red rock, or a daytrip down to flagstaff (grand canyon).
