I just finished reading SportingNews' blurb on the Hornets being the worst team in the past 5 years. I feel for you sir.

how can they be called the worst team? that is so dead wrong.

They are missing Davis, Magloire, and Mashburn. I think they are a amn good team when everyone gets back.

I thought Mashburn was injured into retirement?

Anyhow, I'm not sure if he meant their current starting 5 or the team in general. It was only a one sentence rambling.

FWIW, it appears to be only speculation about his retirement, but this year is finished for Monster Mash.

http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/7728322/1
If anyone was the total package coming into the NBA, it was Jamal Mashburn.

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=195 align=left><TBODY><TR><TD width=180>

</TD><TD width=15> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=180>Jamal Mashburn parts ways with Hornets coach Byron Scott after talking about his latest setback.(AP)</TD><TD width=15> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>At 6-feet-8, 250 pounds, he came into the NBA in 1993 as the fourth pick overall by the Dallas Mavericks following his junior year, when he was a first-team All-American for Rick Pitino at Kentucky. He could shoot from anywhere on the court, back down any small forward, handle the ball like a guard and grab eight rebounds a game.

Eleven years later, the numbers have come and gone, and evidently, so has Mashburn.

Monday afternoon, Mashburn sat at a New Orleans Hornets press conference with general manager Allan Bristow and coach Byron Scott, men he's unlikely to play for again in the wake of the latest issue with his right knee. They declared him out for this season and quite possibly for his career.

I always though Mash was a very good player, but had an unfortunate string of injuries. Could happen to anyone.

He shot 41% played no defense, and was always hurt...I was being kind when I said two good years...

Do you seriously think Mash's career was a success, considering when he came out he was plastered all over the place as a future NBA great?

He appeared to have his game back when he came down with that freak illness that he almost died from :icon_conf never was the same after that...
