Would have to say the Blind Side, just because it was so sappy and sandra bullock won a friggin oscar for that performance that can be done by most competent actresses.

Plus, they were way off on Oher's portrayal. The guy was already decent at football and a confident, determined guy to boot. All the shy, introverted crap was just way too much Hollywood.

havent seen it actually, but i hate when hollywood completely twists the truth on movies that are true stories. invincible was so far off reality it wasnt even funny.

montanas a bitter old man apparently. i believe quite a few of rudys teammates came out to defend him after montana made his comments. everything happened in that movie in real life, from his friend dying at the plant, getting dumped by that bitch when he went off to notre dame, him sleeping in a bed on campus for a time (was actually in the gym, not the football field though), him going to that junior college and getting rejected 3 straight times to notre dame, him leading the team on the field the final game, him getting the sack at the end, him getting carried off. only thing that was hollywood bs was him quitting and the players offering their spot so he could dress. devine had announced at practice that rudy was gonna dress for the game a few days prior. im sure the details are probably a little off, but the main plot is pretty accurate.

I've seen the actual video of that final sack, and they embellished on that part. In the movie it showed him tackling the QB unassisted while in the real game others were in on it as well. Great movie though.

Why would Montana be bitter though? The dude won 4 SB's and is in the HOF as one of the best QB's ever.

It is pretty sad, Oher even said that he couldn't recognize the character they put on screen. http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7017743316

Quinton Aaron, the actor that played Oher, never worked with him to learn the young player's mannerisms or to ask questions to help prepare for the role.

"I guess he just went off the book (the bestseller by the same name penned by Michael Lewis), and film of me from college," said Oher.

Aaron's own interpretation of the character was just one of the liberties the film took with Oher's life.

"It wasn't me up there," said Oher. "It wasn't me. It was a great story though. Inspired."

Not surprisingly, the football-first Oher cites several examples of where the film got his playing career wrong.

"First of all, I've been playing football since the eighth grade," he said. The film portrayed a teenaged Oher as a football novice who had to learn the sport from scratch. "I've always understood the game of football. Just a lot of things from a football aspect (were inaccurate). That's about it."

he did get the sack, was really a half sack, ive seen it myself. in the movie he did get a solo sack, but really i think thats a minor detail. the good majority of the major plot points really did happen, which makes the movie even more amazing.

as for montana, a benchwarming scrub getting a movie made about him instead of one about joe cool? out of the spotlight pretty much completely nowadays? a lot of reasons montana could have to not like rudy. i do know that a few former players came to rudys defense after montana was on the dan patrick show and poo-pooed the movie.

sad, but this happens a lot in these sports movies. honestly, thats why a lot of them are busts, at least the ones that are based off true stories. id say the fiction sports movies usually end up being better then the "nonfiction" ones.

Rudy was a great movie. Just the Notre Dame Marching Band music soundtrack alone made the movie special. When Rudy attended Notre Dame's football program was still at the top of their game. From beautiful shots of the campus, filming inside the actual locker room the movie captured the real spirit of Notre Dame Football. Parts of the script are ficticious but that is the case in almost all sports movies based on actual events.

Any sports move about baseball, they all suck. Angels in the Outfield wasn't bad for a Disney movie, though.

it was a made for tv but 61* was a great baseball movie, at least I thought it was.

I really could not get into Rudy at all, I know everyone loves it but just didn't ork for me if i wanna see an underdog movie give me Rocky.

C'MON MAN!!!!! rudy was clearly embellished, he barely got the sack it actually looks like he missed the QB. I liked rudy but there are a lot better sport movies out there. some sports movies I like are; the program, 61*, remember the titans, white men cant jump, the fan, rebound(the goat), semi pro, happy gilmour, major leagues and blades of glory. to answer the question of the thread watching "ali" was like taking a sleeping pill.

hes credited with having a sack in the official records, so i dont really think it was that bad of embellishing. if he got knocked flat on his ass 2 straight plays, then yes thats embellishment. rudy stays more true to what really happened then just about any "real life" sports movie out there. of course everythings gonna be played up for drama a little. compared to invincible, hoosiers, remember the titans, blind side, its pretty realistic.

i like all of those you listed pretty much, never saw rebound, or blades of glory. ali was a dud in my book, not as bad as some of the others though.

for the record i didnt like rudy the best of all sports movies, but i give the producers credit for keeping it fairly realistic. rudy himself said he didnt want the movie to be made if it really wasnt his story. i would put it behind field of dreams, the natural, rocky, and hoosiers (which i liked but didnt keep to the real story).

If you guys want "realistic" sports movies they are great documentaries! Out of the blue, perfect effort, 1 (de la salle), the last game, for god and glory (celinas tx before adam james ruined it. Check those out if you get a chance!

that scene from slapshot is filmed in the Utica Mememorial Auditorium, where the real carlson brothers actually went into the stands and fought with fans and were subsequently arrested after the game and walked across the street to jail. Gotta love minor league hockey.
