I had to laugh after reading this. When I was going to
Vegas fairly regularly in the mid to late 80's, I would sometimes get into a conversation at the bar with a "local". I was usual;y told when I ask if they gambled much, the "stock" answer was that locals rarely gambled in the casinos. Now you have to realize that we were in a casino when I asked this question.
As the years went by and I continued to go to Vegas, I saw more and more casinos opening in what we would consider to be "locals" areas. I knew these casinos weren't going to be supported by out of state visitors who would normally visit ONLY the strip. So much for the claim that locals didn't gamble.
Just off the top of my head, I would estimate that there are at least 12-14 locals casinos in Vegas and surrounding area right now. And believe me, these casinos aren't being supported by any out of state visitors except maybe red rock, and Green Valley Ranch. Maybe the Rampart if you want to take into account out of state golfers.
