You must be waiting for me to speak General huh.
I play over 5 figures on Totals in Football.
You can guess how much over that total.
Probably about 30-40% of my bankroll, although my bankroll honestly can vary.
I have NOT had a losing season in Futures in nearly a decade.
Just ask The General for he can attest for the past 4 years and 12 sports including baseball, football and basketball.
Tie up money, bad investment blah blah.
It is like a forced savings for me.
My opinions are very strong with some teams and I play a majority on Season Totals with a small amount of that on Championship Futures.
Hitting New England at 80-1, Ravens at 60-1, Carolina at 40-1, Nets at 40-1,
Angels at 100-1, Marlins at 100-1 all in the last 5 years to name a few carry lots of profit.
But my majority is on Totals. It is a great hedge later in the season. Saves me some wagers on those teams during the year that I may want to play on a given Sunday etc that I would lose on anyway.
Phoenix Suns this year and it was posted here I had lets say an unbelievable amount on their OVER total.
Bottom line it is not a gimme, but I feel that I am strongest on long term plays and if I can make 30-60% or more on an investment of over 5 figures why not. You only make a few % on a CD and even real estate usually is gonna bring back only 25-50% if you are in a HOT market and get lucky.
Not taxable, shhhh. No capital gains. How many of us would throw in 10g a year to make 5g profit?
So why agonize over each and every play and when the payout after the season is over it is some serious money and almost found money in my mind.
It is money I havent used and not gambled.
This baseball season was the only time in the past gosh 10-15 years I didnt really play anything in futures. Didnt see much value, had soooo much tied up in NBA which payed off.
Have San Diego and Cleveland as my only 2 teams to speak of on the OVER
and the Yankees as my only team on the UNDER.
And always donate on my A's in baseball and Lions in Football regardless of my big heads opinion.
So just to balance out some of the thoughts on the thread.
I love FUTURES and will continue to play them.
