I like sporting news as well.. esp the column by that relief pitcher that gets traded twice a year ... something Jones... I think it's Kevin, or Kyle or something that starts with a "K". I think Florida has him now.

USA today has better substance though, more current.

make that " Todd". Every "Todd" i've ever known was a prick, so maybe I'm blocking it mentally.

The Herald from Boston when they have IM bettor or the Patriots report card with Kevin Mannix. It is good. Also what helps is the fact that it is written on a 3rd grade reading level.Because as you know, my English not so good.

Sporting News, USA Today Sports Weekly...mostly read my sports news on the web, ESPN Insider is cool. CBS Sportsline is a must, also. Google News, also, i can search the latest news about any player on team from various Local newspapers around the country.

i live in the uk and have never lived in the usa, so wondered how people feel about your papers and magazines.

i buy a usa today sports weekly which is good and has some good columnists like a guy with a mustache called paul something who writes about baseball. but i've found that most feature articles are like the newspaper usa today and tell you very little. you read a whole article on rueben droughns and about what a nice guy he is and come away not having learnt anything of use.

i think espn the magazine is too childish and want's to be hip and cool.

i buy sporting news occasionally but unfortunately prefer the glossy pages and pretty ads in sport illustrated.
however s.i. annoys me because it's fairly lightweight, hasn't changed much in the ten years i've been buying it, and gets overly sentimental.
i can't stand rick reilly and steve rushin, and don't like the letters page full of people saying how the little (white) retarded kid playing peewee football brought tears to my eyes and showed what sport is all about, not those overpaid prima donnas like randy moss and terrell owens. i enjoy the new si-players section, but i suspect that's for younger readers.
unfortunately i have to keep buying it for articles by tom verducci and dr z.

I have almost every issue from 1970 to present of The Sporting News, so that is my answer. It used to be better when the Spink family owned it. Now they are devoting major coverage to Nascar, which takes away from the baseball coverage.

Usa Today

Ditto........Only fault is they need to crank up that machine and print for the weekends also.......

As for magazines such as Sports Illustrated, etc....
I never could understand why anyone would want to read about "old news" a week later..........:icon_conf
