i live in the uk and have never lived in the usa, so wondered how people feel about your papers and magazines.
i buy a usa today sports weekly which is good and has some good columnists like a guy with a mustache called paul something who writes about baseball. but i've found that most feature articles are like the newspaper usa today and tell you very little. you read a whole article on rueben droughns and about what a nice guy he is and come away not having learnt anything of use.
i think espn the magazine is too childish and want's to be hip and cool.
i buy sporting news occasionally but unfortunately prefer the glossy pages and pretty ads in sport illustrated.
however s.i. annoys me because it's fairly lightweight, hasn't changed much in the ten years i've been buying it, and gets overly sentimental.
i can't stand rick reilly and steve rushin, and don't like the letters page full of people saying how the little (white) retarded kid playing peewee football brought tears to my eyes and showed what sport is all about, not those overpaid prima donnas like randy moss and terrell owens. i enjoy the new si-players section, but i suspect that's for younger readers.
unfortunately i have to keep buying it for articles by tom verducci and dr z.
