What is wrong with run lines?

A poster criticized me this week because I bet the run line claiming they are bankroll crushers. I say bullshit. A moneyline at -240 can crush you more than -1.5 -110. I forgot to ask this joker if he bets the point spread in football because IMO there is no difference.

i dont like to bet them at ALL but i wouldnt critizce someone else for it.. most times run lines are the best if u are on the right side and same with spreads but i prefer moneyline with pretty much everything

actually i take that back.. i think it is just based on the circumstance

nothing 'wrong' with them ... but its very square-ish to say 'well, ill just lay the 1.5 and, voila, that gets rid of all the chalk'. ostensibly, that is true but there is a reason some favorites of -240 can be taken down to (-1.5 -110) and some -240s can be taken down to (-1.5 -150). understanding the difference is key. rest assured, you are paying a price for that option. and it usually starts in the way of 8 at bats and then has other variables factored in.
