Besides gaming and hunting nude women with paintball guns? I'm going there in two weeks for a convention and i'm not a card player nor am I a hunter.

Some of the best entertainment and dining in the world. Hoover dam is a nice visit as is the Grand Canyon helicopter tour. Lots of things to do, trust me I go busted every time so I find other things to do other than gamble.

I never used a paintball gun before, maybe that was why I struck out more than Dave Kingman.

The question is what can't you do in Vegas?

What are your interests? Drink, gamble, strip clubs, restaurants, shows, tours, shopping

,etc.

We need some help as Vegas is the best city in the world imo.

Patrick, Thank you! That was the kind of stuff I was looking for. I didn't realize the Grand Canyon would be close enough to go visit. Great, we have something to do besides strip shows and hitting the slots!

ballsofblue, the poison is what we're wary of.. I'd like to make this trip one we can talk about once we get home, not one we'd like to forget.. And thx for the kind welcome!

This might not be a topic thats discussed here but is marijuana easy to get there??

Raiders, a nice strip show is surely in order. Drinks are welcomed for sure. Any loose slot machines you could share? The location?

I don't condone it but any 21 year old in the world can walk in any casino on the strip and get anything they want. Talk to the pit boys.

BTW welcome to the RX. How'd you find us?

I would not recommend my worst enemy take a vacation to Vegas, outside the streets are one big constant traffic jam, inside you have hordes of immigrants chain smoking cigarettes in your face. The casino food is horrnedous, right now the weather is unbearable, its 105 on a cool day. You cant walk a city block without a crackhead being in your face begging you for a dollar, if you play blackjack you get zero penetration in the deck, its almost impossible to find tennis courts and/or playing partners, the golf courses are all set at way overpriced resort fees, all in all the place is a sewer.

NYPP- They say that the the slots are loosest downtown although it is seedier downtown. Best strip clubs are on Indusrtial Drive, my favorite being The Crazy Horse Too. The Riviera has a great regular(not a strip show) show called Splash. It contains a little bit of everything including a comedy routine, juggling, skating and a motorcycle act.

For anyone there for a few days, it's worthwhile renting a car, as there's plenty to see within 4 or 5 hours.

Speed a little and you can get to the Grand Canyon, South Rim, in 4 or 5 hours. Well worth the drive.

Death Valley is within striking range, about 3 hours away.

Valley of Fire is worth seeing, and as I recall, it's an hour or two northeast.

Hoover Dam is about 30 minutes outside the city.

Laughlin is about 1.5 hours south.

Slightly below Laughlin is Lake Havasu, one of the most decadent spots I've ever been to

. Hit that place on a long weekend - you won't be disappointed.

Nice info here. I have never been there either, but sounds like it could be a real good time outside of gambling.

Guys- I may never do this again but I have to agree with Railbird 110% on this one. He is right on with his comments. That being said, I will throw out a few things I think you would enjoy. Halifax touched on a few of them.

Hoover Dam- It's a good close tour. It's about 40 minutes away and a fun visit.

Grand canyon- It's a 300 mile drive but it is an amzing spectacle of nature. I would recommend staying in Williams, Az (250 miles) and making the last 50 mile drive very early in the morning. The park is open 24 hours so get there as early as you can because in the summer it gets quite hot and totally overrun with tourists.

Red Rock Canyon- It's just west of the city and some beautiful rock formations and good hiking.

Valley of Fire- It's an hour away and a beautiful place. The sandstone there is awesome.

Zion National Park- It's about a 3 hour drive. The park is widely known as one of the prettiest National Parks there is. Gets very crowded in summer.

More later.

Yep, Zion is wicked.

If you've got some time on your hands, you can take the drive to the Grand Canyon, North Rim. You will pass by the Valley of Fire and through Zion National Park. Fantastic drive, but count on a FULL day's drive to get there.

Railbird- A lot of that is funny BUT TRUE.

BB says plenty of poisons to choose from and then you say..

"the poison is what we're wary of.. I'd like to make this trip one we can talk about once we get home, not one we'd like to forget"

NYPP- You are speaking out of both sides of your mouth? Also you aren't going to get high marks as a new poster by asking for pot on this forum.

I would suggest you go to www.lvol.com or www.vegasgangonline.com and ask the discussion boards

If memory serves me (could be a little cloudy) there is a nice tourist stop on the Valley of Fire trip called Shari's Ranch.

Well worth the trip!
