At Pinnacle, do not remember the exact name but it was a huge Goat made out of sticks in I think Sweden or Finland and they build this thing in November and people would try to burn it down, the bet was would it still be standing on Christmas, I bet NO, and it was a loser..They had a cam on it so you could check to see if it made it or not!

Gavel Goat was the name

Honest...F' horrible bet... 50/50 fun..

still fun....I'll most always bet Black...75-25%

It just depends...

Again...Wife thinks I'm crazy (purse for her)..lol

You know it's not 50/50 right? There is a 0 and 00 on the wheel which hit 2/38 = 5.3%

So, you're giving away 2/38 * 500 = $26.32 in EV every time you make this bet.

I know, it's cheap entertainment... but you'd be much better off betting the $500 on one hand of baccarat, betting banker, which has
a house edge of only .0106.

You'd only be losing $500 * .0106 = $5.30 in EV on that bet.

Not strange in the usual sense: But bet -250 up to -2000 for several grand on UConn to beat Arizona in the NCAA tournament, iirc they played the Western Regional final: Reason why I bet it that high and what made it strange: I put my bets in at betfair while UConn was already cutting down the nets from the baskets celebrating midcourt.
But apparently the game was transmitted in the UK on like a 10min delay, so actually the odds were already down to -10000 and 5min after the final buzzer kept creeping back up all the way to -250...easiest money ever made and bets weren't cancelled.

Other than that I'd probably have to take my pick between Nigerian soccer, under18 basketball at the Asian Cup with -80pts spreads for China, under16 basketball African Cup games between the likes of Mali & Madagascar, 4th division Norwegian soccer or somehow obscure sports like Bandy, Floorball, Futsal, Beach Soccer, Roller Hockey or Pelota.
& bellator [ i think we lost that one]

I bet a friend that he was going to get stiffed by someone I knew had stiffed before. He brushed me off and said "no way". Easiest bet I ever made.

So not only did he lose money by getting stiffed by the stiffer, he lost money by getting stiffed to you on a side bet!

It was just a gentleman's bet but he was blinded by the light with this stiff and he is usually right about most things. I wish I had lost that bet cause it cost my buddy a ton of money.

I'll bet you've had a few more "sure bets" than I have.

Just remember another one of that sort:
4-hills-tournament in ski-jumping: Some people must have been confused by betfairs menu structure a few years back. Because Kofler was a pretty big favorite to win the 4-hills tournament after 2 events, but was trailing by quite a lot in the world cup standings and already had announced that he was going to skip the events in Japan after the 4-hills tournament.
So people bought several thousands at +300 on Kofler to win the world cup (thinking they were backing odds on him to win the 4-hills), when real odds were 15:1 to 20:1...easily tradable for a big profit within 1 week.

Same stuff just happened with the NBA All-Star Game: People thinking they were betting on the winning side of the All-Star-Game, but buying odds on which conference was going to win this year's championship...so people were able to buy the Eastern Conference to win this year's NBA finals at +130 to +170 and the same for the West ...

Sometimes people's stupidity is just amazing ;-)
