What is the NCAA Football Rule on Extra Points on the final play of the game?

Reason I ask is back to back days, I have seen a TD scored by the trailing team on the final play of the game but the extra point try wasn't attempted.

Navy +6.5 down 13 last night scores a TD on the final play and loses by 7.

Today Maryland +5.5 down 12 scores a TD on the final play and loses by 6.

So if a team is down by 7 and scores a TD on the final play, they simply lose? Doesn't sound right but if you score a TD you should be able to go for 2 or attempt the kick for the extra point no matter what.

I saw the same thing a few weeks ago, I can't recall the college game but that has to be some brutal beats if you have the dog and they score.

I'll add the TD not given to Texas against Baylor today for over bettors. Progress wasn't stopped.

They don't attempt it with 0.0 on the clock unless it can change the outcome. Of course they kick it down 7 lol. NFL, you have to at least snap it.

That MD +5.5 would have been a gift from the heavens as the game was extended due to a late hit by Indiana up 12. Although if Perry Hillis could throw a football like an average QB, MD would have probably won. Missed @ least 4 WR for potential TDs by overthrows or underthrows

Vol's threw a pick-6 to start/end double OT vs Texas A&M a few weeks back and A&M kicked the extra point....didn't/don't understand why they would have had to do that.

I was under the assumption they had to kick the extra point in regulation and not in overtime.That move also cost me yesterday and it really sucked

That's not how the game ended. In the second OT, A&M had the ball first and scored a TD to go ahead 45-38. Tennessee had the ball next and their threat ended with the INT in the end zone.

I remember that game quite well, A&M K missed a FG to win in regulation.

Let that be a lesson, whenever taking a 3.5-point fave, ALWAYS buy the half-point down to 3 unless you are absolutely 100% confident you think it's going to be anore decisive game. But IMO, leaving a fave at 3.5 is just asking for it, any game in any scenario can easily end by a FG. It's always worth it
