I would think that worldwide, since soccer is the most popular sport, a soccer team would dwarf the popularity of any US team. So for that I would say either Manchester United or Real Madrid.

But in the US and for anyone who pays the least bit of attention to US sports, Yankees would win hands down.

What do you mean recognizable? And is this throughout history or currently? And is this in the US or international?

Question is too vague to even speculate.

In the US Yankees, followed by Dallas Cowgirls.

Internationally Lakers.

Trust me nobody in India knows the Cowboys or Yankees, but they have heard of LeBron and Kobe.

I may be in the minority, but I couldn't point out one European soccer logo.

You mean to us or internationally?

I would have to say the Lakers internationally. Euros may dislike our football and baseball, but they worship the ground Kobe walks on.

Would also say NYY. You would be surprised how many people even in Germany wear their caps. Ok, most of these people probably don't even know Derek Jeter and have never heard of Babe Ruth and just wear it because of fashion reasons, but still more people have heard of the Yankees and have seen their logo than f.e. the Cowboys, I guess.

I can't actually recall the last time I saw Lakers gear; I saw 3 people in NY caps today.

i know the lakers are huge in europe. they have some kobe stores in the phillippines, italy and spain and basketball is way more global compared to baseball and football.

just look at all the attention kobe got at the olympics. multiply that with gasol being a national hero in spain, multiply kobe having the top jersey of anyone in any sport in asia, gotta go with the lake show.

america though definently the yankees.

This thread was over before it started, Yankees without a doubt. Half the Spanish speaking world still calls us Yankees if thats any indication.

Used to be Yankees, i bet anything in the past 20 years the Lakers have surpassed them. Especially now, all throughout eastern europe they follow ALL europeon NBA players. Also, China has a HUGE NBA fan base now.

As a World traveler and international man of mystery I would venture say the Bulls are still more known world wide than the Lakers, people everywhere still want to be like Mike.

used to live in 3 different european countries, visited at least 20 around the world. besides usa, canada, japan, korea an latin america, baseball is virtually unknown. the same is true for american football. the most recognizable american sport outside of usa is basketball. the most recognizable teams are probably the lakers, celtics and the bulls. the most recognizable player: mj. i'm pretty damn sure that 99% of europeans can't name 3 mlb/nfl teams combined.
