Ice, the Tenn Valley is a great place...

hard to beat the Gatlingburg area for beauty, in my book.. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is a gorgeous area.

I've visited pretty much every state and I would choose Oregon. Rivers everywhere, Lakes, Mountains and the awesome Oregon coast. Hunting, fishing, skiing, gardening, wind surfing etc. etc.

Vermont is absolutely incredible. So peaceful, quiet and scenic. I stayed at smugglers notch for a week with the family. Great experience that was.

I grew up 20 minutes from there. Went to undergrad at UVM.

Vermont is beautiful, but the winters are just too long, and summer
is way too short.

I've spent a lot of time in Oregon, and own land on the coast in Bandon.

The biggest complaint I have is that the rivers, lakes and ocean there
are always too cold to swim in, unless you want to turn blue.

It was pretty cool to ski in July last year on Mount Hood.

People kill themselves in Seattle because they live on the west coast, not because of rain

California most green state by far, nicest people by far, you want 60's year round look at the Central coast.

Seattle leads the nation in suicides because it leads the nation in rainy days.

I don't know about the nicest people part, at least the times I was in LA/SD.

Not if green means money. Cali is fucking bankrupt and then some. Hard to choose to move somewhere like that now. Kinda like marrying someone in bankruptcy. There's gotta be a better choice.

Depends on what you define as beautiful.

To me it would be lots of green (not Nevada), wooded areas, clean clear air, temperatures in the 60's most of the year, throw in some intangiables like little traffic, nice people.

Seems like the east coast and the northwest United States are mentioned everytime I read about this. Curious what people here think. I havent been to many places so I am interested in what others say.

Sounds most like the Carolinas to me for woodsy areas, and not too cold, you can't toss in Maine,VT,NH...temperature wise, not too different than Michigan, really, up in Northern NE.

Northern Calif, maybe ?

Northern Nevada is nice, also

Southern Utah, like St George ?

Northern NM... Taos ?

Tenn, R-Kansas ?

montana; flathead lake---where phil jackson lives

Kalispell is where my wife went to school. I went there for her Class re-union which was right there at Flathead Lake. Very nice but it gets cold in the winter there. I'll stick to Oregon anyday !

I've never been to Idaho, I guess it would qualify, except for the 60 degrees most of the time ?

That sounds more like the SE portion of the USA to me.....Carolinas, possibly inland a bit more, not quite the deep South, not New England, not the desert Southwest.
