Have had the best luck with rescue mutts. Just lost my 16 year old guy a couple weeks ago...heartbreaking

Have had good luck with chihuahuas...(wifes fav) not much for protection but will alert you to a raccoon farting in the driveway.

Just old...Slowly went down hill...eventually his heart gave out. Had him cremated.

Tough to forget a dog i've had almost 1/2 of my life. Lab, sheperd, beagle and who knows what else mix.

The best dog I ever owned was a Blueheeler Austrailian Shepherd mix. He was beyond smart. Cool fucking dog.

Ive also owned German Shepherds. Great dogs.

I have never had a dog over 40 pounds that I did not think was the best dog in the world at the time. Little dogs are just not for me. They seem to never learn anything ( housebreaking being the most important)

specifically though I love American Bulldoggs, but I am just tired of cancer taking them from me ( all 4 died too young from cancer after undergoing chemo/radiation)

I own a husky as well... too dominant for my taste but I understand is not a trade of the breed but a thing my dog developed...

Lab if you can deal with the first year. I also had a lab/husky mix. He was an awesome dog and weighed in at 145 pounds.
