Always try to keep enough available to cover pretty much any expensive we could incur. Putting more into retirement now that we have a decent plan. Having just enough in our checking to pay the bills helps keep compulsive spending in check. If you need to go to the bank to get the money out it gives you plenty of time to think it over.

Would think including BAS would bring that no. down since he's only dealing in cash: I imagine him more like Tony Soprano, hiding wads of $ inside the bird food and other places around his mansion plus filling his pool with $ like Scrooge McDuck (plus a bunch of safe deposit boxes holding a shitload of watches).
