Not a big fan of Khalil either. Can't ever see him developing into an above average hitter.
To ask for Young is ludicrous though.
im surprised young is as good as he is. he's hardly overpowering. in fact, he's not at all. of course, that doesn't guarantee success for a pitcher. but for as big as he is, its surprising that he doesnt have better stuff. part of me wonders if he's not going to get 'figured out' at some point and his deceptive delivery becomes more hittable.
not sure why greene for dye would be so outrageous. greene has kind of plateaued after a great rookie year. if im san diego, id consider that trade to improve the offense.
the only untouchable for san diego should be peavy.
First of all, if you trade Greene, you would need to get a SS back. Secondly, you cannot give away Greene for a FA whose peak yrs are behind him and who may just be a rental.
It's of no consequence anymore now that they got Milton Bradley for a bag of balls.
I am not a big Greene fan either, but he is literally the most popular Padre (god knows why), and his skills are incredible if he could ever become consistent. He has to be in the top 3 in baseball for extra base hits for a SS.
milton bradley will wear out his welcome by the end of the season though. there simply isnt a bigger cancer in baseball. i used to like him because he is a good baseball player. actually, a 5 tool player. but to say he is an asshole is being way too kind. he just tears apart teams from the inside. the guy has major issues.
He will be fine on the Padres. Hoffman, Giles, Wells, and Maddux will get his respect, not to mention there is another "true brother" on the team in Cameron who will keep him in line. Plus, Paul DePodesta is the one that vouched for him. He is in the Pads front office now. Now the question is can he get healthy. Strained obliques are tough. But he will help the middle of the order come playoff time
everyone thinks they can be the ones to fix milton bradley. and everyone just ends up cutting ties with him because he isnt worth the headaches. he produced in cleveland ... but the indians couldnt stand him because he compromised a lot of the franchise core values. he produced for los angeles and produced for oakland and they couldnt wait to wash their hands of him. cleveland has one of the best franchises when it comes to mentoring young players. they also had a brother from california as well (sabathia). and all that meant nothing. he is seriously fu.cked up in the head. he thinks everyone is out to get him. he has accused damn near every team hes been with of being racist. he is just wacked out. he'll produce. he'll help their offense for sure. but he won't last more than one season.

i wonder this too...maybe those flashy plays had people believing he was the next big ss...i wouldn't mind trading him for a ss with a consistent bat at least
i'd like to see germano get traded...even as good as he's been...i get the feeling he has over achieved...if you can get a big bat that would stay here for more years you could include linebrink or what not
I would love to see them trade Germano before everyone realizes he isn't that good. He tops out at about 85, and he is no Greg Maddux. His value is decent right now. I wouldn't mind seeing Khalil go either (assuming we get someone really good back). Linebrink is going to be a free agent and he is going to make big coin, so nobody is going to give up much for him (other than a team like the Yankees)
