I could see a situation where someone could actually make a lifetime career at a place like McDonald's if they could save some of that $15 an hr that they will be forced to pay everyone on paying the truly elite people in the company real money .
The problem is at a place like McDonald's is there is not much incentive for someone to get better .
The assistant manager does not make that much more money then the new bum they hired yesterday off the street that got fired at Popeyes the day before making $15 an hr.
Just like Willie and others I worked at subway in 1996 when I was in school and although my work ethic and personal standards would not allow me to mail it in and be average I think that's the exception.
I went from line clerk to part time assistant manager in less then 4 months but my pay only went up about $70 a week for much more responsibility and this was when min wage was around 7ish.
If I was still in that part of my life where I was in the min wage work place I would have preferred there to be no min wage at all.
This would allow me to compete against these plugs and have the fast food industry compete for the good workers.
You don't really have to compete right now the pay differential is not enough to make that happen.
There are a few out of the box companies like chick Fila that pay above min wage and wouldn't you know it they have the best customer service in the industry .
If you had no min wage at all I'm 100% confident I would have made even more money when I worked at subway then I did back then.
So I think we would all be better off eliminating min wage altogether rather then raise it.
