Take a look at the political map as it almost perfectly divides into 3 main areas.
1. - We start out on the Left coast, with California, Oregon, and Washington forming their own country "OrCalington".
2. - Then we have middle America, and the bottom half of the east coast. Call the second country " The states".
3. - The third country stretches up and down the east coast from Maine to Maryland, with some of the upper midwestern states as well. "Liberalington".
These 3 seperate entities can act and choose as they like on domestic and foreign issues. If Liberalington wants to have free socialized health care for all of it's residents, then they can just tax the hell out of all of the people who choose to work and it's ok. If they don't want to respond to radical muslims that fly airplanes into skyscrapers, then they can keep their troops at home and "hope" it won't happen ever again. If they don't want to let the hunters in Minnesota have the right to bear arms, Barrack Hussein Obama can take away that right without any problems.
Now if individual states had more power, we probably wouldn't ever come to a succession that turned us into 3 or 2 countries. We would more so have 50 independant countries operating under one umbrella. The last time we had a succession was when the federal government took away power from the states. If you read your history books you will realize that the CSA states weren't the only ones that "wanted to leave". The city of NY wanted to form their own country, and Maryland wanted to succeed but Lincoln threw all of the state government in jail before it could happen, and he was throwing newspaper staff in prison as well that disagreed with him. Other states could have succeeeded as well if President didn't suspend the writ of habeous corpous and start throwing everybody in jail. If you didnt' agree with Lincoln, you rotted in jail without a trail. If you succeeded from the union, you had to fight the Union army ( full of european immigrants) and you also had to suffer the wrath of the union army and all of their war crimes.... to learn what it's like to be American.
