Yeah, the Orioles would have went back to Baltimore up 2-0 instead of being deflated by the crime commited by that chump Garcia!

Funny thing was when Garcia tried to pay the O's back in the clinching game calling Ripken safe at first when he was out by 4 feet...

I was sitting on the third base line and saw how far Cal was out by...It was Garcia's way of paying back I guess...Glad he was fired!

Anybody that routinely cries about umpires and referees should be required to do some of it themselves. You can have the most integrity in the world, and you will still not be perfect. It's a very tough job. All the garbage that is spouted on this forum about refs having money on the games, etc...it's mostly BS.

I agree Illini, its not that 99.9% have any money on the line when they blow a call...Its still not always easy to accept, I mean some of these calls have literally taken championships away...

Don Denkinger cost the Cardinals a World Championship...thats not easy to accept for some people.

Trust me, J-Man, I feel your pain. I'm a die-hard Cards fan, and cried myself to sleep as a child on that one. But Denkinger was a good umpire, and it's a shame his 29 years of service comes down to one call. Denkinger did not cost the Cards that championship. There were so many other things that collectively cost them the title. Jack Clark dropped a foul ball just before or after that call. Sorry, I used to umpire Division 1 baseball, and I've got to look out for my brothers, cause it's like a fraternity.

Bad Calls Rarely Have Anything To Do With The Integrity Of Officials. But Bad Calls Kill The Integrity Of The Game. A Pitch Down The Heart Of The Plate Should Be Called A Strike. When Its Not, It Hurts The Game. Thats All.

That's was my whole point in this. Not the umpire's bad call but the fact that he missed the call and refused to get help. His ego > making the correct call...unlike last night.

There are some terrible umpires working these playoffs. Angel Hernandez, Joe West, and Randy Marsh are three of the worst. But most of the young guys, and the umpires that are in AAA, are pretty damn good. But the AAA guys only work 20-30 games a year in MLB while the old guys take 7 weeks of vacation each year. Tough to get a full-time gig up there, but once you do, you're set.
