Say they release Pennington or trade him then go with Clemons with Favre the backup. Favre then re-retires.:nohead:

I hope they do. As soon as i heard the news i figured i'd try throwing up a number on matchbook and see if any over zealous jets fans would bite. I put it in looking for jets under 7 wins +200. Went to take a crap and by the time i got back it was already gone.

Thats surprising since The Greek has the Jets Ov 7 -40. Did you hedge and get the Jets Ov somewhere else.

No, Just put the number up to see if i got any bites. I put it back up the other way (Jets ov 7 -150) to make my own hedge for a possible Bonus Play.
If i don't get any bites i'm fine with it as i kinda like the bet. Favre is only gonna have about 4 weeks to learn a whole new offense etc.. plus as a ex-Ny'er am a huge Jet hater and will give me more reason to root against them.
I look at like this, Jets have to go 8-6 in a 14 game season because even if they had favre, young and elway they are not beating the pats.

It won't happen. Maybe if the team had a stud young QB like Rodgers, but Clemons is nothing special. It doesn't matter who's QB though, this team isn't making the playoffs.

Jets could definitely make the playoffs. They made it two years ago and they've got a lot more talent than that team. Their schedule is filled with coinflip games vs inferior competition (they are inferior based on last year right now) but if they comeup a little bit they could easily go 9-7, 10-6....

Tons of upgrades adding Faneca, Pace, Gholston, Jenkins....Revis is coming into his 2nd year.

Getting rid of 1st round guys who did nothing for them and didn't fit their 3-4 D like Robertson, Vilma....

That being said U 7 +200 is obviously value...Pats/SD should give them 0-3, thus making 8-5 vs the rest of the NFL the goal for them to win, however, their schedule is easy so its definitely possible...

Pennington has no arm but he is as smart as any QB, I'd take him as a backup on the Pats in a heartbeat...

Think he would also be a good starter for the Ravens too, managing the game for them....

This is a gift for the Pats.
This like when Belichick traded Bledsoe to the Bills.Belichick caught all kinds of heat for tradingBledsoe within the division.
Bledose went like 1-10 against the Pats with about 80 picks.

What if Brett re-retires and the Pats pick up Chad as a back up for Tom?

Pat, The Mrs. and I both know I was being sarcastic, and we know you are one of the best at spotting sarcasm.
Just what we need here in NYC, more 24x7 Favre.

Having said that, Chad Pennington would be the ideal backup for Brady.
Both have similar make-ups.
Football and real world intelligence, both can grasp game plans in a nano-second, both can think clearly on the fly under pressure.
Both don't have a cannon, but can get it done big time passing in the flats, short outs etc. etc. ala Phil Simms circa 1980's.

If Pennington ever became available to the Pats in any role, Pat management would be insane not to sign him.

Oh I wasn't shitting on Chad.Outside of his physical limitations I think he is a very heady QB,and would fit in easily with the Pats.
The problem with that is that he really could be a starter for about 4 other teams,KC,Minny,Balt TB.

Agree with the previous poster agreeing with me that Chad would've been a good fit in NE, however, saying Brady doesn't have a cannon for an arm?

No scout or player personel guy would agree with that, he has an A-rated arm...
