Had a few disputes with locals in the past. Nothing major but it was due to poor math as he came up with the wrong figure. Just had to go back over all the reciepts to double or triple check and that was it, no big deal.

One of my books got stiffed 10k by some college student and now they use phone recorders as well as rice paper. Before it was just a couple of phones, a couple of guys, index cards and pen.

Have heard stories though about players claiming they got a 1/2 pt or full point in their favor when they really didn't or else saying they don't remember placing that bet, ect.

Also hear about excuses when it comes to paying up. For example, just got layed off and funds are short or my kid has hockey and I need an extension, food, clothes, diapers, ect.

Pretty sad that some players just can't be honest and use kids and family as an excuse for their own fault. All kinds out there and it really screws it up for everyone else.

why rice paper instead of regular paper ?

The sort of paper that many people think of when hearing the term “rice paper” (smooth, thin, crackly, strong) is not actually made from rice at all. The paper is made from fibers from the bark of the mulberry tree. It got the name “rice paper” because it was used to make packets for rice. This sort of paper is used for origami, calligraphy, paper screens and clothing, etc. It is much stronger than commercially made wood-pulp paper. Although paper can be made from rice straw, this is not the “rice paper” that people usually think of.

Trust me, there are plenty of writers that have read a bad line to a player.

The tape keeps both sides honest and its good business to not have your players thinking they may have been cheated.

Sometimes honest mistakes happen and the tape clears up or altogether prevents alot of mistakes.

When players know they are being taped, they stop trying to pull shit and god knows every bookmaker isnt 100% honest.
