I see these posting forums as just a modern form of comraderie. Society is becoming so specialized that the only place people can find others with similar interests is at work, and even there you have limits on how much you can say because of all the politics. Here you can let loose and be free and talk about the things you want with people who are hard to find otherwise. It's pretty amazing really. Don't know who to thank -- maybe Al Gore!?

TheRx Forum is like the ultimate book...it has just about everything any avid reader who love sorts would want....the twists and turns of real life drama, ficticious characters, real life human interest stories, good guys, bad guys, people from all walks of life...It is the ultimate book, who would have ever believed this kind of thing would take place 10 years ago? Where people would gather (just about everyday) to talk sports and gambling, grow to know each other and actually meet...Its an amazing experience in some ways, and in other ways it could be viewed as complete waste of time,lol....

Its basically a book with no ending, these are The Days of Our Lives!

Using any forum like this also affects how we communicate in that everything said is retained for easy review by anyone. Thus each of us is more accountable for what we say about anything at all, much less our thoughts on the possible outcome of a sporting wager.

Yes, one can edit posts, but I think any site like this is better when the EDIT option is removed for use.

Yes, it causes us to have to make a 2nd post with a "Last message should have said...", but it also forces us to realize that if we pop off or if we are misleading -even unintentionally - it will be seen.

For me that has greatly tempered my in-person persona, which over the years can pop off with the 'funny' line at the drop of a dime....but said lines can also be harmful to others and we later think, "I wish I would have kept my mouth shut".

The Internet has created a place where we can pop off and feel insulated from complaint by virtue of being anonymous.

This removes accountability for ones words and actions. More difficult to form relationships where both sides can proceed with confidence.

The cyber relationship takes more time....time which can be greatly lengthened if you're sloppy about how you 'talk' to others behind the identity insulation cyberspace can permit.

Forums provide a communication gound that fits well with a busy schedule.

Most of the time I just come in here to read the threads.

Really, what else is there to do? We could do housework, auto work, hug the cook, or feed the dog, but we got this.
