What do you think about the label "Quality Start"? 6inn, 3ER min. Is it really a quality start?

A quality start is when a pitcher goes at least 6 and gives up 3 or less runs.

This # equals a 4.50 ERA which is not an impressive number for the most part.

Give me your thoughts on the label "quality start", is it really a QS? or should standards be higher?

It only equals 4.50 if they give up the 3 ... 2,1 and 0 changes the ERA ...

But yes, 6 innings, 3 or less runs will give any team a legit shot at winning ...

However,
The more often a pitcher bring a QS the less run support they seem to get as the season progresses ...

See Harvey last night ...

I will look at it when I am thinking of taking 1.5 runs later in the season. I am pretty much old school though. ERA, Strike outs to Walks, Pitch counts, Wins and losses. Actually this is all bs. I just go with the "eye test" 90% of the time.
