What do you make of the Mets signing Michael Cuddyer to a two-year, $21-million deal ?

Prob a good move. If he can stay healthy, he will be productiv for them. If mets can add some bullpen help, I think they have a shot at 90 wins...wih harvey coming back...their starting rotation looks solid

Mets fan here......don't love the move but don't hate it either. I mean he is an upgrade from the den Decker's and Eric Young Jr's of the world but don't like signing guys in their mid 30s coming off an injury plagued season. It's only a 2 year deal so if it doesn't work out at least they aren't locked in for big money.

The real question is who is going to be playing shortstop for them next year. It cannot be Flores.

I would also like to them to go after a veteran reliever too. Would love them to go after Andrew Miller but know that's a pipe dream.

They had money to spend so I guess might as well take a shot. Cuddyer is a .280/20 HR guy if he is healthy. That being said, he's old, injury prone, and isn't much of a defender. He'd be better as a DH. With a team like the Mets these moves show they are at least trying but I wouldn't expect a whole lot.

Just too much money for a guy who hits the DL 2-3 times per season now. Plus add in that he leaves hitter friendly Coors and will see a dip in numbers. Still a hell of a bat sure but his body is def not up to par anymore.

Injury-prone, old, inflated stats thanks to Coors Field...imo bad move by the Mets, money could have been better spent.
But if Wright gets healthy and Harvey comes back being even remotely close to his pre Tommy John form, their pitching (esp. their starting rotation) and defense should get them to .500 in in the playoff hunt.
