Depends on what street you are talking about, I don't really pay attention to the other sites, Major Wager seems like a great site....just don't really read it but every so often, the only other site I know of is the one where they hate us and we could care less about them....and the little girls that run the site have nothing better to do with their lives than make up stories and put down others that they don't even know to get attention, how sad ...
The RX is much tamer. The Discussions are not as animated. I'm not saying that's a good thing or a bad thing just a fact. Some very sharpe posters at MW. Many more posters at the RX but not as many that can discuss the numbers behind a pick in depth. The RX has Bucsfan. Tough to beat that.
Any mod who says they never look at another forum is either fibbing or doing themselves and the forum they work for a disservice.
I think MW has an older and maybe "wiser" core. More professionals. Some of them don't post much because there are things they don't want to splat publicly. I have raging debates and have learned a lot via private messages. I think a lot of posters who want to stay out of the public eye do the same. It can cause problems, but having private message access is a big plus in my mind. Same with our chats. The trade off is a less lively looking forum.
What others said about feeling more familiar and comfortable and "at home" at one vs the other holds true for me too. Back in the day when RX posters could change their poster nicks whenever they wanted to, I got really confused with who was who, and haven't ever really attempted to catch up since. I do scan thread titles on a regular basis.. I believe staying *up* on offshore issues that may not be posted publicly somewhere else is part of my job.
I also like keeping the inter-forum tiffs and cheap shots to a minimum, though I have to admit, I visited the RX a lot more often during "forum wars"... lol

After finding the Rx forums about a year ago, and then finding other forums on the same topic, I year later, I realize that
1) I only post at this place.
2) I bookmark this place and Johnny Detroit's place.
The rest I don't even bother visiting.
The reasons the other boards are not places I personally do not visit is that:
* too much bitching, which includes flame wars (for example, the kind of shit Mr.HenHouse trys to stir up is a regular occurance at other places, most of the time it is the main attraction at other venues)
* topics and conversations at a very low intellectual level (football is not a game for genuises but you should sound like you don't have your head up your ass, fortunately for the Rx there are good people with an eduaction and a brain)
* too many irrelevant topics too little about sports (off topic stuff should be a release or comic relief, however the naked pictures and/or off topic subjects are the main attraction at some sports forums)
* no class acts, only degenerates (Rx has a few class acts and many degenerates which is a balance of posters unlike other places with no class acts)
* some places run their forum like a cult (I've seen odd posting behaviour at other places that defy what one expects in a sports forum; it's a forum, not a cult)
* awful looking forum software appearance (the only other site out there that I like compared to the Rx is Johnny Detroit's forum, however that forum's interface I dislike so I only visit there about once every two weeks)
I think folks can only really visit a couple of forums at most on a regular basis.
If you visit all of the gambling forums, it is like listening/talking to every single degenerate out there, which is too much if you got other things to do with you time! :hump: :drink:

I will add my two cents as the Shrink has called into question Minnow’s assertion that MW is "wiser"
I don’t know what the current climate of free expression is here that the RX but I think it is fair to say that historically MW has been the site with a more "tolerant" attitude towards dissent. Notice this is my first post under this handle. My previous attempts to join this community have resulted in my banishment from this board. I also got a few buddies banned by posting under their names. If you are familiar with my posts across the street (or here) you realize I am often times NEGATIVE but always fair and never a flamer, troublemaker, etc.
I think we all know what forums desire in terms of their preferred audience and the RX has consistently delivered. to its sponsors that preferred constituency. In fact, if I were an advertiser I would certainly advertise here before MW. Here is the thing, though, I am not an advertiser. I don’t own a sportsbook. I am a gambler and only post to ask questions, answer questions, be amused or to tell my own jokes. I go where I can learn, teach, and share more with other gamblers. The RX is a wonderfully successful business and the Shrink is a brilliant businessman. Along the way, I fear, they trampled on free speech and cut corners to create the illusion that the site was even busier than it is. I asked simple questions and …PUFF, I was gone.
Anywise, I plan to start posting here from time. If things go well, I plan on posting more often. I hope that many of you will post at the MW or any other sites where you learn more. We gamblers have no financial stake in either site (excluding moderators, I suppose) and our only goal should be to learn more from each other. This URL address of the site should not matter.
