I know many out there are against any of the classics being remade. But there are a few that come to mind that I think could be interesting in the hands of the right filmakers and with today's technologies. A few that come to mind:
Creature from the Black Lagoon: This movie used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid. Remake it, but keep the same creepy music from the original.
The Wizard of Oz: I know that many think this one shouldn't ever be touched. But I think somebody like a Spielberg or Tim Burton could do some neat things with this movie.
Apocalypse Now: Not the sequel, but the prequel. I would like to see the events that led up to Kurtz going renegade.
The Magnificent 7: Another one of my childhood favorites. If they remade Oceans 11, I don't see why they can't remake this one with an allstar cast.
The Birds: It wouldn't be easy topping Alfred Hitchcock. But with today's special effects, this movie could be very frightening.
I can think of a few more. But these come to mind first.
