Never owned a cell phone in my life. My son bought one for $350 a month ago. (His money, not mine). Nice phone I guess. Not much it can't do. I'm trying to talk him into loaning to me for weekend.

I signed up with...

www.sportsanywhere.com

9.95 a month and they send everything to your cell via text message.

I get scores updated every time there is a score change in baseball and football now.

Your mileage may vary when you ask which is the best cell phone company ... it depends on where you are located. In the northeast part of the United States, Verizon dominates. In the southern part of the United States, Cingular is the leader. In the mid-western part of the United States, I would say AT&T Wireless has a strong hold on the area. For the western part of the United States, I believe it's a mix of Verizon, Cingular and AT&T Wireless.

Alltel, the 8th largest wireless provider, is the leader (or so they claim) in providing rural coverage.

If you are looking for sports information, I highly recommend you get a sports pager, either by SportsNOW or The Sports Page.

Hope this helps.

Not to deviate from the subject to much, but does anyone know of a cell phone provider that offers a water-proof phone? I've been fawked in the ass twice now by these Mf'rs

It really pisses me off that they can't make the god damn thing's water-proof.

Just get a sportspager from ebay for around $80! You will get updated every 2-4 minutes during baseball and more often during football!

They will work forever or at least I have had 3 of them for over 4 years now with no problems.

Not only do you get the score, but you get to know the # of outs, how many guys are on base, who is pitching and who is sleeping with who at the time!

Best $80 that you will EVER spend

Cheater- I agree! I had the insurance on my phone and when I got the insurance they said "It covers everything!". So a button falls off the phone when it is in my golf bag. So I call up and tell them what happened and guess what. I am soory sir, we need a specific incident, unless you can tell me exactly how the button came off we can not cover it. I flipped out and ripped the guy up. BTW why does it seem like every business has their customer service call center in CANADA? Nextel is no exception and if you ask them where they are they say in the northeast. Sometimes if you ask them directly if they are in canada they will say that they can not disclose that.

Players- which guy from ebay? I got scammed once, I would love to get that deal. One question, if they last forever why have you had 3 or 4? Did you lose or break them?

An important FYI ...

The sports pagers that are being offered on eBay do work as advertised, especially if it is a SportsNOW sports pager. Just be advised that starting in September, SportsNOW is switching pagers, which means they are switching frequencies, so all the sports pagers you see being auctioned off on eBay, will NOT come come September. This only applies to the SportsNOW sports pager.

I believe Nextel offers a water resistant phone. Visit Nextel.com for more infomation, or go to phonescoop.com, click on carriers, and look at all the phone from there. Great web site.

I have Nextel, used to work for ATTWS for 4 years and wouldn't recommended ATTWS to my worst enemy. Cingular just bought out ATTWS and the merger, from what I hear, will take place in the 4th quarter of this year. Nextel, however, where I use it, works great.

Also, if ANYONE ever makes an insurance claim through SIGNAL or any other insurance provider, NEVER NEVER NEVER say you damaged your phone. NEVER NEVER NEVER say you had your phone stolen. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS report your phone as LOST, meaning you LOST it in the river when you were FISHING. Works everytime! If you say its damaged, they will make up an excuse as to why they are not liable to fix it. If you had it stolen, they will want a police report. If you lost it, you simply lost it.

Hope this helps.

#1 cheater

best way to protect yourself there is to buy the optional cell phone insurance your provider sells. $2 a month I think.

I have a Sprint PCS phone (VM4500) and the internet service on it has been great. I also have an Ericsson T616 with service from AT&T but I hardly ever use it unless I travel internationally.

no chance in hell,

That is correct. You're SportsNOW pager that you currently have will NOT work starting next month.

SportsNOW is switching to the BRAVO 800 pager, which operates on a different frequency.

Get a Treo 600 and you will be able to follow the scores and make all your bets with ease. If you aren't too concerned with making your bets with your browser, then a T-Mobile Sidekick or a Treo 300 (the older one) will do fine. I much prefer having full internet access, not just the WAP sites they offer to you with most phones. Of course you pay a price in size of the phone.
