I know myself, I only look at the offshore talk...hardly ever go into the sub-forums. Why? I dont know, probably because I don't trust others with my money and A lot of the time Im coming here just to talk about sports and random shit...I've been around long enough where I'd rather lose with my own picks rather than someone else's picks, HOWEVER, there are a handful of guys in the forumland that I would follow blind.

I've been around here long, since when The Shrink was around...and would call RX my home.

It used to be poppin' here but times have changed, not just here, but in offshore in general...

What can make generate more volume here?...What makes other forums better or worse than theRX?

Here's a list of a couple ideas:

More contests whether it be free/sponsored or post up

More poker tourneys (free/sponsored or post up)

Annual RX handicapping contest (post up) for all major sports... Crown a "2017 MLB RX Handicapping champion"

Look what happens when you put up a couple super bowl block pools...people come out the woodwork to throw money at...sign on to the site, might even reply to a couple threads who knows!

are you serious? first of all I didn't open your PM yet...but How many times have I told you that I am in the league and I will pay and you have been riding me since day 1... I tend to do things last minute but considering the league isn't full and MLB doesn't start for 7+ weeks, I thought it would be OK to send in the next week or so but I guess not. Take me off the list and if the league is still open when I'm ready to pay I will do it at that time. Thanks.

In the past couple of years it seems that Post Up contests have worked best.
The reason is simple, because of the problems for Shops moving money. people feel they rather post up to a contest and get paid the way i do it.
Plus there is no rollover or other loopholes .

Once they make gambling Legal in the States, forums like these will jump 60-100%

The lost of posters ( Key Posters ) is due to the neteller downfall and getting screwed out of Money left in Books or books closing up shop and taking the money.
other reasons are people grow up, move, get married and change their lifestyle .

I think we have done pretty good during this past NFL season, and hit a new High on New Years day

I think this place is almost beyond saving IMO.

Do sponsors even pay to be here. Do mods even get paid any more?

What is therx doing to get people here? And come back?

Gambling has expanded to everywhere in the past 20 years as has Fantasy Sports.

Can't figure this RX riddle out.

Can't figure this RX riddle out.

The answer is competition. Way more places to talk sports on the net, rise of social media, etc

If you asked the average poster what the RX competition was, they would say other gambling forums but that isn't really true. The RX competition is pretty much the entire internet which has grown substantially over the last 15 years. A lot less barrier to entry in forumland now than when this place was started too.

You're correct about gambling. Just because it is harder to get $ offshore doesn't mean more people aren't betting. There is more $ wagered on sports than ever before, fantasy sports, etc but it is a lot tougher for the site to capture that entire audience. It's just mostly a competition issue.

I'd say that goes a long way towards figuring the riddle out.

I don't think the RX's competition are other Forums like this either... and agree when this place started, there was Nothing out there. The other forums came after
also agree on the Social media point too. You can go on Facebook where they have Groups that you can join, Twitter and even chats are back ( which is how this forum was started )

Yes Fantasy Sports has grown, but players don't care about any gambling Forums. they go right to ESPN, CBSSportsline, etc to get the information they are looking for.

Sure we would love to have the RX booming like back in the day. But the numbers are ok for now.
If the Gov would ok Sports Gambling, we will be just fine... even better than Fine.

I did not know sending a message on the 12th and the 17th was riding you, neither of which you answered although being active often. After probably running 30+ leagues through here you tend to recognize new players who sign up but when it comes time to play disappear or back out. The league is full if all those who are in did in fact say they would play paid. So when you told me weeks ago u were paying when league us filled happened weeks ago and thats why i send follow up pms. Draft is about a month away your right but you still have to get everyone signed up, pick a date and time everyone is ok with. If you let half ur league wait till last minute to pay u will be screwed as ppl back out or dont respond while u scramble to fill holes. The league will happen with or without you. Good luck

I think if gambling was legalized then there would just be more competition. Sites popping up, niche sites for each sport, etc

Probably be some good $ in being an affiliate for William Hill and other owners of the applications.

relax the rx is fine.

i think betallsports is right... when gambling is legalized... and we all know that is 100% inevitable in the coming years... there should be a big boost.

just a matter of when this inevitable occasion will happen. thankfully there is adam silver to constantly keep it in the public eye

yes, other sites would pop up but they cant match the history of this one

As for your original post, i dont know what people can really expect from a site like this. Its a site where people discuss sports and betting. It is what it is. The rx is not some giant cash cow to run crazy contests and dump money on members. People post picks or their own and ppl make bets. This site has probably peaked. Its organized, run well, and up to date

Also sports betting is passive/casual activity to 95% of the people doing it in a way that something like poker, fantasy sports or other some other activities really aren't.

Makes it tougher to get consistently robust discussion on a topic like that.

It'll likely be what it'll be, which isn't a bad thing.

It's quite funny that you bring this up often yet you continue to post lines from BETUS as if they are a premier book, bump old threads, and be your same old self "stuck in the stone-age" all these years. Spice it up a little brah! puff_>>

Very Good and Astute points made in those. ^^^

Tremendous Weight competition-wise to the Instant Feedback "bing" like near realtime exchange of Facebook and whatever Twitter has going on. I don't mess with Twitter but have seen high praise amongst Gamblers for it though....mostly Tailers looking for guys to Follow on their plays so...weight that as you will.

I would add only that in past times posting online was a brand new phenomenon so people tried it out then, naturally, the Novelty wore off, guys moved on. Natural Evolution. Today you have a Generation that is just simply not a Demographic that uses such posting outlets, software-style wise, as Rx is based upon...."VBulletin" or whatever it is....Forum setup with "Threads" that must be clicked upon to be opened to be viewed. This age group grew up with the Facebook Style thing, texting..."Instant Gratification" has impacted viability of such Forums and many other things. Reality. Evolution.

Natural Progression.

Truth and I hope that History does play a Major Role in which site emerges as The Gorilla within the wilderness of Online Sports Betting Discussion options when gambling gets legalized.
