Fitch credits Koscheck with being a huge help in training his wrestling, meaning Kos is better than Fitch. GSP just dominated Koscheck's wrestling. Fitch has better standup and grappling but he won't be able to out-athletic guys like in the past since GSP is just a physical specimen. I love Fitch as a fighter but I just don't think he will be able to do anything to hurt GSP at all.

Fitch is a great wrestler. I'd say his strength over Koscheck is that Fitch scrambles better and puts more pressure on his opponent. I haven't seen Koscheck on his back very often, but Fitch is good off his back and very tough to submit.

Unlike everyone else I think Fitch is a live dog here and his chances get better if he can push it to the later rounds.

totally agree...gsp`s toughest fight yet...guy hasn`t lost since 2002...has roughly an equal proportion of stoppages/decisions....is tall, strong, cardio`ed up...

just very well rounded...

the big difference between koscheck and fitch is between their ears..fitch has a quiet,assassin-like confidence...koscheck,to be honest, doesn`t handle resisitance all that well..he folded when gsp attacked him and took him down..that fight was over in the first round.....he`s a great front runner, but, imo, not all that bright or mentally tough...

fitch is completely different...he lost his very first mma fight...and lost to gouveia(a legit 205 pounder).......that`s it...

at pick `em,i`d play gsp.....gsp is the better finisher....but,at these odds,i have to grab some fitch...

this isn`t a used up,one dimensional matt hughes or a talented but smallish bj penn...

i sense a long hard fight...

gotta love this match-up..

What I like about a bet on Fitch going into this fight is that Fitch has the grit and toughness to take what GSP can dish out and make it a war.

GSP has mostly been in fights that have been him dominating his opponent. Although it's only happened a couple of times, when GSP was caught in a fight, he seemed to prone to panic. When Serra cracked him, he should've just clinched and recovered. When Hughes caught him the armbar, he (perhaps) could've tried to fight it off for 2 more seconds.

GSP is deservedly a p4p top fighter. The way he dominates opponents makes me wonder why I would ever entertain a bet against him. Still, I think we haven't seen all sides of him yet, and I'm betting that he'll be less effective when his opponent pushes him to the limit. Into the later rounds the mental part of the game will come into play and there I think Fitch will have an advantage.

Had this been a 3 round fight and had Fitch been a 2-1 underdog, I probably would've laid off. But this is a 5 round match and Fitch is close to a 3-1 underdog. This is one of those bets where I hold my nose and let my head lead against my gut instinct.

I love Fitch and he is one of my favorite fighters, but I just can't see a single thing where I can say he'll have the advantage in. Striking, all GSP. Fitch is okay but not great. Wrestling, all GSP. Fitch is a very good wrestler but GSP has shown he can outwrestle studs like Hughes and Koscheck. Fitch doesn't have the standup to negate that. Grappling and scrambling, Fitch is excellent at it but GSP might be the best in the game right now. No matter where this fight goes, I just think GSP is better. I don't see any way for Fitch to win really. If he had a wrestling advantage or I thought it would at least be even, I'd make a bet on him and hope he laid on top for more rounds, but I can't even give that to him. I just don't see it happening.

PS, I'm not betting this fight at all. I think the line is perfect. When I was handicapping it I just kept thinking how GSP is better at every aspect.

was thinking along the same lines myself. i can picture gsp scoring a takedown and thinking he has fitch in trouble early, but after fitch escapes (or if he gets swept which would be even more detrimental to his psycy) i want to see how gsp responds. for some reason it is just hard for me to see fitch being stopped. i know it is a long fight. so conditioning and mental toughness are going to be huge. but, these are areas i think fitch excels. courious to see how gsp responds when he is pushed. what will happen if he is on his back eating elbows?

very exited for this fight. i got a little piece of fitch by dec for around +1150. think you get good value there.

I think he can. When you have a fighter as skilled as GSP, you have to think he can finish anyone at 170 at any time. There are so many ways to go down in MMA. Plus, if fitch gets rocked, it is much tougher to survive for 5 rounds then for 3. Also, there could be an adrenilin dump for either fighter after the first 1/2 rounds.

However, i think there is alot of value in this fight going to dec at +300 and up as fitch has seemed so resilant.

he absolutely can....that`s why he`s better than a 3-1 fave....he may just be too quick and explosive....fitch will have to keep from taking to much early punishment...or getting overwhelmed...

i marvel at gsp`s game....he`s probably the best pure athlete in mma....he doesn`t have any real weakness....i remember thinking what a beast this guy`s gonna be the first time i saw him....

but theres a steadiness about fitch`s game...he`s almost emotionless.....great focus and resolve......and he can go deep into tough fights and still be strong(mentally and physically)...

i`ll tell you who else gives off the same vibe......martin kampmann...i`m hoping he`s a large dog vs marquardt....marquardt`s another super impressive fighter....i love the guy....but kampmann is a verrrry dangerous guy...in the same mold as fitch....they fly under the radar and sneak up on you...well rounded...and they don`t fluster easily...

as i said, pick`em i go with gsp....but fitch ,barring early disaster, should make this a memorable fight.........

just an opinion...lord knows i`ve been wrong before..

I took a little GSP by decision +479. Not gonna lay the juice and think Fitch is gonna be tough to finish. I think that's the best bet for the fight personally.
